Senior Environmental Specialist/Asbestos Investigator

JOB DESCRIPTION:About the job:An award-winning consulting engineering firm located in Elmwood Park, New Jersey is seeking a mid-level candidate with 3 or more years of experience who is willing to join our growing environmentalhazmat team. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:Asbestos and other hazardous substances investigations and sampling of suspect materials, investigation report writingAssist Project Manager with management of asbestos abatement oversight projectsQC visitsAssist in development andor review of abatement and remediation plans and specifications. Ability to read architectural and mechanical drawingsAbility to work effectively under a deadlineAbility to work both in the office and in the fieldAbility to wear personal protective equipment if working in hazardous conditions QUALIFICATIONSREQUIREMENTS:Required: current NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator license and NYS Asbestos Inspector certificationBachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field3+ Years of experience in Asbestos InspectionsInvestigations with knowledge of applicable regulations for New York State and New York CityProficiency in computer applications: Word, Excel, Power Point, etcGood writing and communication skillsOSHA 10-hr. and OSHA 30-hr. Construction SafetyNYSDOL Project Monitor, Designer, Mold Assessor and EPA Lead Inspector certifications are a plusKnowledge of CAD is a plus
