Always think of the solution not the problem.Always Learning: Be better today than you were yesterday.No Bullshit: We will not accept drama, passive aggression, or people who come to think of problems with no solutions.New Age Engineering PLLC is seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Engineering to oversee our Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP) design operations. The ideal candidate will have 8-12 years of experience in the MEP consulting industry, hold a Professional Engineering (PE) license, and have a strong technical background in the design and implementation of various mechanical, plumbing and HVAC systems.This role will be responsible for reviewing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection drawings to ensure they meet high-quality standards, are properly calculated, and are practical for installation. Additionally, the Director of Engineering will play a key role in mentoring and teaching less experienced engineers the principles of proper engineering design criteria, ensuring consistency and technical excellence across all projects.The successful candidate will be a technical leader, providing oversight on system designs, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards, and collaborating with project teams to deliver high-quality MEP solutions.Key Responsibilities:Technical Expertise & Design:Prepare and review MEP system designs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to NYC building codes, ASHRAE, NFPA, and other relevant industry standards. Design and review the following mechanical systems:Split System HVAC, Rooftop HVAC, and VRF HVAC SystemsCommercial Kitchen Exhaust, General Exhaust, and Chimney SystemsSteam, Hydronic, Ductwork, and Chilled Water DistributionPump Sizing and DesignChiller Plant and Heat Exchanger DesignDesign and review plumbing systems, including:Hot Water Heater Systems, Gas Piping, and Backflow Prevention (DEP CCCU)Water Main Design (DEP CCCU), Booster Pump Systems, and Cold & Hot Water DistributionSanitary, Vent, and Storm Piping SystemsDesign and review fire protection systems, including:Wet and Dry Sprinkler SystemsHydraulic Calculations for Sprinkler and Standpipe SystemsWet and Dry Standpipe SystemsEnsure all designs are practical for installation and cost-effective.Conduct QAQC reviews of MEP drawings before submission.Work closely with drafters and engineers to resolve design challenges and provide practical solutions.Project CoordinationManage project schedules, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.Collaborate with architects, contractors, and clients to coordinate project requirements and resolve design conflicts.Address RFIs and submittals during construction to support project execution.Participate in design meetings and provide technical input to ensure efficient system performance.Mentorship & TrainingProvide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers on MEP design principles.Conduct training sessions on proper engineering design criteria, calculations, and industry best practices.Develop internal design standards and calculation tools to maintain consistency and efficiency in engineering deliverables.Qualifications & RequirementsProfessional Engineer (PE) license in NY required.8-12 years of experience in MEP engineering with expertise in HVAC and boiler plant design.Strong knowledge of steam systems, chiller plants, and VRF systems.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant engineering software.Thorough understanding of NYC codes, ASHRAE standards, NFPA guidelines, and other industry regulations.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
