The construction estimator will perform cost estimates on construction projects using a variety of factors, primarily commercial, industrial, medical or municipal building projects. The construction estimator will use expertise gleaned from working in the industry along.with construction plans to estimate necessary expenditures and devise a budget. This role requires an onsite presence in our Bedford, NH office. This hire must be able to successfully complete a background check, which will include both criminal and driving checks.Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Construction EstimatorPrepares bids and cost estimates that address the entire building project. Must be able to develop detailed schedules that align with estimates. Must be able to perform detailed take-offs specifically for concrete, rebar and lumber.Ensures that all cost estimates submitted by subcontractors are accurate. Must be able to prepare estimates conceptually, even if blueprints and drawings are incomplete.Able to provide detailed Value Engineering suggestions for projects. Estimates the cost of labor, materials and equipment needed for a job.Able to develop and work with SF costs.Must be able to meet critical deadlines for bids.Using Excel must be able to generate cost calculations and reports. Understands market fluctuations in materials costs, labor rates and new construction technologies. Travels to sites as needed, primarily in NH and MA. Other related duties upon request.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must have strong math skills. Must be detail oriented.Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.Must be able to juggle multiple projects at once. Knowledge of how to read and comprehend blueprints.Must have extensive knowledge of commercial construction industry.Proficient in problem solving, including identifying potential issues, and finding solutions to mitigate risks.Must have driver's license, and clean driving record.Knowledge of the complex workings of building construction.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Must be able to work effectively as a member of a team.Must have strong computer skills, especially knowledge of spreadsheets. Knowledge of Procore is helpful. Education and ExperienceBS Degree in Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.10-15 years of experience in estimating is required.No relocation or sponsorship is available for this role.
