Sevee & Maher Engineers, Inc. (SME) has a new full-time position for a Civil Engineer at our headquarters in Cumberland, Maine. SME is looking for a qualified intermediate to senior engineer.Position SummaryThe Civil Engineer, who reports to a principal of the firm, participates in a diverse and dynamic portfolio of projects varying in size from residential development, commercial, and medical buildings, to solar array installations and large industrial complexes. Many of our projects involve innovative designs for environmentally sensitive areas. Your ImpactBecause there is no "typical" project at SME, the Civil Engineer has an exceptional opportunity to work on a wide variety of assignments for buildings, roadways, stormwater systems, solar power arrays, and water and sewerage systems. As an SME Civil Engineer you will be responsible for:Project management, site planning, civil engineering and designBid and construction servicesPermitting, document preparation, and public presentationsas well as:Maintaining a high level of organizational skills to keep tasks on schedule, andBeing an integral team member and problem solver who is adept at developing practical, cost-effective solutions that serve our clients well. Because the Civil Engineer works closely with SME's multidisciplinary staff and frequently interacts directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and the public, your strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal) are important. At SME, we take pride in building and maintaining positive long-term relationships with all stakeholders.Required Skills and QualificationsB.S. degree in Civil Engineering, with 5+ years of experienceProfessional Engineer's license preferredSolid civil engineering design experience, including site development, grading plans, stormwater analysis and design, roadway design, utility analysis and design, code research, drafting of technical reports and specificationsAutoCAD and civilsite design, and HydroCAD software experience is necessaryExperience with local, state, and federal permitting, andEffective oral and written communication skills are essential.Working at SMEFounded in 1985, SME is an accomplished team of 85+ experienced and talented professionals providing environmental and civil engineering consulting services to clients nationwide.
