REPORTS TO: Communications and Marketing Manager GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Works across multiple departments at Feeding America West Michigan to facilitate the planning and delivery of a wide range of events to deepen community engagement, partner agency effectiveness, and donor stewardship. The ideal candidate will work in a highly collaborative manner to ensure events run smoothly and enhance the organization's reputation. Events will be held at the Kentwood headquarters and periodically off-site within our 40-county service area. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Key events: Events for community groups to tour our facility and use our meeting space Donor events Support the Community Impact Team in delivering regional conferences, small-group convenings and focus-group meetings Provide support for internal staff events (trainings, all-staff volunteer days) Periodic volunteer events Nutrition education initiatives Community conversations about food insecurity In collaboration with communications and advancement team, develop and deliver events for Hunger Awareness Month (September) Related Responsibilities: Develop and manage event budgets. Work with the communications team and creative partners to determine event branding. Work with the communications team to determine publicity and collateral needs. Organize facilities and details such as décor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material. Ensure timely and appropriate recognition of sponsors, grantors, and participants. Maintain CRM system in coordination with donor services manager. Build reports to document progress on event goals. Serve on the Employee Engagement Committee to support staff training and events. Be the organization's point person for event software, vendors, and knowledge of venues throughout our service area. In coordination with the marketing and communications manager, track inventory of branded collateral and place orders when needed. Operate audio-visual technology for events at the headquarters. A strong commitment to the mission. Works well on a team and is highly adaptable. Additional duties as requested by the communications and marketing manager. PROFESSIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Commitment to understanding and supporting Feeding America West Michigan's mission and hunger issues. A minimum of three years or related experience. Fundraising experience is a plus. Bachelor's degree in communications, hospitality, marketing, sales, event management. Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques. Organized and deadline driven. Ability to work on several projects at once under tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work effectively with a broad range of constituents, including clients, volunteers, donors, board members, and staff. Strong customer focus. Proficiency in MS Office. Ability to work nights and weekends as needed. Able to travel periodically throughout the organization's 40-county service area, including 1-2 trips per year to the Upper Peninsula, Northern Lower Peninsula, and Southwest Michigan. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be comfortable working in an office environment for extended periods of time. Ability to perform physical labor as necessary (standwalkmove for long periods of time and lift up to 40 lbs.)
