Destination Sales Director, Discover CoronadoCoronado Island is calling! The official destination marketing organization for Coronado, California has an immediate opening for an experienced group sales leader. This person will oversee all aspects of group strategies for San Diego's premiere meeting destination, Coronado Island. This position is fully supported with ample budgets for marketing, in-bound client events, out-bound prospecting and research. Responsibilities:Generate and deliver unique group meeting leads for assessed properties (Hotel del Coronado, Loews Coronado Bay Resort, Coronado Island Marriott Resort and Glorietta Bay Inn.) Prioritize outreach to corporate and luxury meeting planners, third-party firms, and incentive trip planners. Develop group strategies with resort leaders. Consider need periods, new category targets, overall demand generation, and industry event hosting. Measure on a quarterly and annual basis. Promote Coronado at industry tradeshows and events, hosted client programs, and familiarization trips. Qualify new customers and widen business with previous clients. Prospect for, process and respond to RFPs using various websites, applications and personal follow-up. Maintain a high profile and professional rapport with decision-makers within the group meeting industry. Utilize customer relations platforms and marketing accordingly. Maintain a strong understanding of each assessed property and remain a neutral party when representing them collectively and publicly. Develop, maintain, and update sales kits, materials, website, and promotional items. Assist resorts with selected site visits, group arrivaldeparture and documentation. Provide insight about destination to resort sales teams for distribution to buyers. Brief planners and destination management companies (DMCs) on available partnerships with local merchants in destination (i.e. dine-arounds and team building activities). Serve as a resource to San Diego Tourism Authority to assist their group sales efforts. Work with destination event management companies (DMC) to encourage referrals and build strong partnerships to win business. Negotiate with DMCs for event implementation including familiarization trips, site visits and hosted events. Advise Executive Director on media placements, marketing and service credits. Update Board on active programs, annual budgeting and return on investment. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a business or hospitality; equivalent experience in related field. 5-7 years overall group sales experience in corporate, incentive or luxury categories. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Adept at time management. Able to work with finite deadlines. Ability to travel for business, including overnight stays. Strong work ethic: trustworthy, honest, respectful, and flexible. The ability to work independently as well as in a group environment, contributing to the creative process. Must embrace diversity and possess cultural awareness. Must be able to be entrusted with confidential information. Ability to project a professional demeanor and appearance when representing destination andor assessed resorts. Proficient computer skills working with various office equipment, computers and various programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Salesforce and the ability to effectively produce spreadsheets, reports, documents, and messaging platforms.
