Job DescriptionThe Electronic Fabrication and Test Systems Department, part of the Undersea Systems Office (USO) at The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL), is looking for an Electrical Engineering Support Specialist to support multiple projects and a wide range of tasks.ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.You Will:Assist, perform, or provide input to the layout, fabrication, assembly, documentation, and testing of standard and non-standard electronic equipmentAssist or evaluate the selection and purchase of materials and components and interact with vendorsAssist with or install, calibrate, operate andor maintain standard and non-standard equipment, experimental hardware, andor computer systems in the Laboratory or in the field, assist with or assess and identifying system faults, repairadjust standard and non-standard equipmentAssist senior technicalengineering staff in gathering, compiling, and archiving test data in the Laboratory or off-siteWork as part of a test project support team in the Laboratory or off-siteThis position can be filled at multiple levels, depending upon your education and experience. Minimal requirements include an Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience andor education and competencies are required for higher level position. A degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, graduation from a technical trade collegevocational technical school, or military experience are preferred. Light physical effort is required to assemble andor operate equipment.Higher level positions require experience in the following areas:Working independently and directing small projects with limited supportResolving complex issues and recommending corrective course of actionComponent level troubleshooting of electronics and cable interconnect systems experienceProfessional communication with internal and external audiencesRequired experience areas include:Electronics andor electro-mechanicsOperating electronic test equipment, and the ability to assemble and test electronic circuitryMicrosoft Office, with the ability and willingness to perform basic computer tasks or learn computer programsPreferred skillsexperience areas include:SMT SolderingCable assemblyAbility to interpret schematics and other technical documentationAn active secret government security clearanceYour working location will be fully on-site located in State College, PA. This position will require periodic travel to remote locations in support of testing as part of a small team of researchers, engineers, and technologists.
