We're currently seeking a Financial & Accounting Consultant for the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Finance & Administration Cabinet. The selected candidate must be able to work hybrid in Frankfort, Kentucky.JOB DESCRIPTION:The Finance and Administration Cabinet, is seeking a Financial & Accounting Consultant to support the Financial and Management Reporting Branch in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and assisting in the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in financial reporting, and the ability to interpret and apply accounting principles in a government finance setting.This position offers a hybrid work schedule based in Frankfort, KY (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) and follows a standard Monday-Friday schedule with state holidays off.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide financial research, consultation, and advisory support to the Financial and Management Reporting Branch.Assist in the preparation, review, and publication of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).Analyze and review financial data sets to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to GAAPGASB accounting standards.Collaborate with internal teams to interpret financial regulations and support government financial reporting requirements.Identify and recommend improvements to financial reporting processes.Utilize or become familiar with eMARS (Enterprise Management Accounting and Reporting System) for financial data management (experience preferred but not required).QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.Experience in financial reporting, accounting, or government finance is strongly preferred.Familiarity with ACFR preparation and government accounting principles (GAAPGASB) is a plus.TECHNICAL SKILLS:Strong data analysis and financial reporting capabilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software.Experience with eMARS or similar enterprise financial systems is preferred but not required.SOFT SKILLS:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret complex financial data.Effective communication and collaboration skills.Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.WORK SCHEDULE & BENEFITS:Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday).Hybrid schedule (Frankfort, KY - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote).State holidays off.Professional work environment within a government financial reporting team.
