Position Overview:The Contract Engineering Associate Mid will be responsible for the development, testing, and improvement of audio technology systems, particularly in the areas of acoustic data acquisition, signal processing, and audio perception. This position requires hands-on experience with audio experiments, programming (Python, MATLAB, MaxMSP), and acoustic systems. The candidate will collaborate with multi-disciplinary researchers to integrate innovative algorithms into platforms, perform complex experiments in laboratory settings, and produce technical reports.Key Responsibilities:System Development: Design and improve systems for acoustic and behavioral data acquisition and processing using Python, MATLAB, and MaxMSP.Data Collection & Analysis: Conduct acoustic data collection using complex capture systems, prototype devices, and human subjects in a controlled laboratory environment. Analyze and optimize data acquisition systems for audio perception.Collaboration: Work closely with researchers to integrate data acquisition algorithms into platforms and systems.Technical Documentation: Write technical reports and papers to describe research methodologies and results, ensuring clear communication of findings.Experimentation: Design and perform audio acoustic experiments to validate systems and technologies.Minimum Qualifications:Education: Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant technical field.Experience: 5+ years in audio technology development, including:3+ years of experience with audio signal processing.3+ years of experience conducting audio acoustic experiments in controlled environments.Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or MaxMSP for audio applications.Strong understanding of acoustic systems and audio technology development.Preferred Qualifications:Expertise in real-time audio coding (CC++).Knowledge in psychoacoustics, auditory perception, and spatial audio.Experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch.Familiarity with motion tracking systems and prototype hardware devices.Must-Have Skills:Strong audio signal processing knowledge.Experience with programming languages (Python, MATLAB, MaxMSP).Acoustic experimentation in controlled laboratory settings.Data analysis and interpretation skills.Additional Information:The position is based in Everett, WA, with no remote flexibility (Day-1 Onsite).The role requires the ability to produce high-quality reports and publications from technical data and experiments.This job is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in audio engineering, acoustic systems, and signal processing to contribute to cutting-edge developments in the field of audio technology.
