PSM - Process Safety Manager The PSM Manager supports and maintains the Process Safety Management program for AMVAC's manufacturing plant and surrounding sites near Axis, AL. The Process Safety Manager is responsible for setting up and reporting key metrics relating to Process Safety and Risk Management Program (RMP). The PSM Manager works closely with the plant management and the EHS Department to assure proper information is developed, reviewed and made available to meet company, local and federal regulations.AMVAC®, an American Vanguard® Company (NYSE: AVD) develops, manufacturers and markets solutions for crop protection and nutrition, turf and ornamentals management and commercial and consumer pest control. We focus on four innovation platforms: Proven Chemistries, Precision Agriculture, GreenSolutions, and Sustainability Solutions for plant and soil health.THE JOB Assure compliance with all 14 elements of PSMPerform audits and oversights to ensure that facilities maintain a system to keep current all related PSM and RMP records and documentationWork through MOC's (Management of Change) and assist with PHA's (Process Hazard Analysis)Participate in Incident Investigations and Root Cause AnalysisAssist with resolution and correct non-compliance issues post auditsProvide guidance to Operations to ensure that applicable personnel are adequately trained as related to PSM complianceSet up and monitor Process Safety metricsEnsure plant PHA leaders are trained in proper PHA techniques.Provide support for LOPA (Layers of Protection Analysis) reviews of risk scenariosEnsure timely solutions of findings from PSM audits, PHA studies and other PSM assessment activitiesParticipate in select Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) prior to startup of new or modified processes or equipment or after extended shutdown of equipmentSupport Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) through the review and assessment of PSM related requirementsCommunicate and interface with Company personnel including making recommendations for and implementing changes for improvement, replacement, and additions required for compliance and safe and continued operationCommunicate with local regulatory agencies as it relates to Process Safety ManagementProvide expert technical support in identifying and resolving critical regulatory issuesEnsure compliance with all regulatory, safety, environmental requirements and company policiesTravel (occasionally) to other sites or to attend meetings andor conferencesPerforms other assignments as necessary and directed by managementWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:BS in Chemical Engineering5+ years chemical plant experience with a broad technical understanding of plant operations3+ years of experience implementing and facilitating the plant PSM programDetailed knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and compliance - OSHA, EPA, PSM, RSM (Axis, Alabama)Experience with using and leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) studies by various techniques; Trained PHA FacilitatorLeader preferredStrong safety experienceExperience conducting data analysis and root cause analysis using various programIncident investigation and Root Cause Analysis techniques preferredRiskconsequence modeling experience desirableExperience in management of contractors and other technical resources a plusProven ability to lead teams, influence operations, and build consensus opinionsStrong verbal and written communication & effective presentation and training skillsRelationship building abilities with the regulatory community desirableGood organizational and writing skills necessary to track and document PSM program progressMS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) requiredAbility to maintain confidential information in a professional mannerStrategic thinker with the ability to identify potential risks and associated mitigationsInnovative and can bring new ideas and creative approaches to problem solvingDemonstrated skills in risk-based decision making, effectively coordinating safety and business needsParticipate in the random drug test; Safety blood draw programPass pre-employment physical, drug test and background checkAMVAC Offers Health insurance including Medical, Dental, and Vision offered at low cost to employees and their familiesLife; AD&D insurance for employees and their families401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with generous employer matching100% vested in your retirement benefits after your 30th day of employment.Employee Stock Purchasing Plan (ESPP) with employee discount [AMVAC is an American Vanguard Company (NYSE: AVD)]Health Savings Account (HSA) Flexible Spending Account (FSA) availableWellness program; tuition reimbursement and other benefitsWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
