The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with strong prioritization (multi-tasking), organization and communication skills. The ability to meet deadlines in a short time frame is also a must. It is important for this person to be able to have outstanding organizational skills and be able to achieve results in a stressful environment. This person will be responsible for developing accurate and reliable estimates for multiple, simultaneous projects. Key ResponsibilitiesEstimate Development: Prepare and manage estimates for multiple projects from concept to GMP or hard bid.Quantity Takeoffs: Conduct accurate takeoffs and develop detailed estimates for self-performed work, including mass excavation, underground utilities, clearing & grubbing, and rock crushing & screening.Cost & Risk Analysis: Identify high-risk issues, evaluate costs, and develop contingency strategies.Bid Management: Lead the preparation and submission of bids, RFPs, and budgets, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.Trade Coordination: Identify and engage suitable subcontractors, develop bid tabulations, and analyze trade scope risks.Team Leadership & Collaboration: Manage and mentor estimating teams, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and workload balance.Client & Design Team Interaction: Collaborate with clients, design teams, and operations teams to ensure project estimates align with project goals and requirements.Pre-Bid Efforts: Participate in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and site visits to gather critical project information.Software Utilization: Leverage estimating tools such as BuildingConnected, Agtek, B2W, and Microsoft Office to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Preconstruction Support: Provide estimating expertise across multiple office locations and support preconstruction pliance & Documentation: Ensure that all client deliverables, small business goals, and general condition cost estimates align with project requirements.Minimum Skills & Experience RequirementsStrong understanding of CSI MasterFormat and Uniformat.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to independently develop complete and accurate cost estimates.Experience with self-perform estimating in heavy civil construction.Strong hard-bid and conceptual estimating skills.Ability to attend site visits, job walks, and pre-bid meetings.Some overnight travel may be required depending on project location.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.10+ years of experience in heavy-civil construction or mining estimating.Operationsfield experience is a plus.Expertise in heavy-civil construction means, methods, and equipment selection.Experience with heavy-industrialmechanical installations (e.g., crushers, conveyors, pump stations, structural concrete).Strong familiarity with BuildingConnected, Agtek, and B2W Estimating software.
