Mechanical Design Engineer - Combustion - Alton, IL DESCRIPTION:The Mechanical Design Engineer - will be responsible for the design, development and testing of energetic materials and products.RESPONSIBILITIES:Product Development: Lead and contribute to the development of new energetic materials and chemical products, from concept to commercialization.Material Characterization: Conduct testing and analysis of energetic materials to evaluate performance, stability, and compatibility.Process Optimization: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes for efficiency and quality control.Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all products meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements through rigorous testing and documentation.Technical Support: Provide technical support to internal teams, customers, and partners regarding product specifications, applications, and troubleshooting.Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.BACKGROUND PROFILE:Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred).Solid understanding of energetic materials, combustion processes, and chemical kinetics.Experience in product development, characterization techniques, and quality control. Experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry program environment is a plus.Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards for energetic materials (e.g., REACH, DOT, UN).Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical writing and communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
