To apply, please submit your cover letter, resume, and three references to OverviewThe Director of Finance and Operations ("Director") for Eagle Hill School ("the School") manages the School's financial and business operations. The Director leads the daily operations of the School's Business Office and assists the Head of School in overseeing the School's operating budget. The Director's primary duties include supervising and providing guidance to the Business Office staff, preparing and maintaining the School's annual operating budget, supporting the School's annual close and audit preparation processes, managing the School's cashflow, managing the duty assignments for staff, overseeing the substitute coverage process, ensuring operational success and efficiency, and completing projects as assigned by the Head of School. The Director oversees the School's relationship with its bankers, food service vendor, insurance providers, retirement plan provider, and audit and tax advisory firm; managing the tuition collection and related financial matters. In coordination with the Chief Human Resources Officer ("CHRO"), the Director manages the financial aspects of on-campus and off-campus housing and advises the CHRO on financial matters related to staff housing . The Director also works closely with the Development and Enrollment Management Departments and supervises the Director of Facilities, Director of Technology, Director of Safety and Security, and Director of Athletics. Primary Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesFinanceBuilds and manages the operating and capital budgets in coordination with the Head of School.Ensure the School's business and fiscal goals align with its educational objectives and mission of the School.Prepares, analyzes and interprets financial results for use by the Head of School and Board of Trustees.Models and fosters high ethical standards, integrity, and respect for colleagues, alumniae, families, and students in the conduct of the School's business.Provides guidance and assistance to other members of the senior leadership team in the management of their areas of operation; Provides budget status reportsMaintains and oversees the financial accounting system and Business Office personnel to ensure the proper recording of all financial transactions in accordance with sound accounting principlesManages short-and long-term investments consistent with the Trustee Assets Committee and Head of School guidance.Supervises Business Office staff members and supports them in the performance of their dutiesReconciles the GL accounts.Manages the annual financial audits and audits of the 403(b) plan. Ensure the timely and accurate submission of all required reporting and compliance, including the annual Form 990 filing.Ensures the positive financial reputation of the School with vendors, suppliers, and other business associates.Advises and informs the Head of School and Board of Trustees on all financial matters relating to the SchoolManages and oversees the School's insurance programs. Manages the student financial aid programs in coordination with the Enrollment Management department.Provides financial oversight of all external contractsServes as the general risk management officer for the School with advice from the CHRO and outside legal counsel.Serves as the primary liaison to the Finance and Audit and Assets Committees of the Board of Trustees.Prepares financial plans consistent with the current strategic plan and directives of the Head of School.Collaborates and coordinates with the Development Office to ensure proper recording of gifts and pledges, support the reconciliation process, and prepare stewardship reports regarding endowment performance.Assists Enrollment Management Office with the preparation and management of enrollment contracts.Manages delinquent accounts with discretion and care in accordance with School policy and guidance from the Head of School.Performs various strategic projects as assigned by the Head of School.OperationsManage the duty assignments of all staff to ensure smooth daily operations.Oversee the substitute assignment process to ensure coverage of all classes and activities.Supervise the Transportation Coordinator Front Desk Administrative Assistant and the Database ManagerRegistrar and oversee their daily work.Coordinate with the Director of Safety and Security, the Director of Facilities, and other School leaders to develop and manage processes on campus to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the School.Oversee and support the food-service operations of the School via the food service vendor ensuring food safety, proper nutrition, and cost-effectiveness.Chair the administration's Operations Committee.Other DutiesParticipation in evening and morning meetings of the Board of Trustees and meetings of the Assets and Finance committees and other committees as necessary. Participation in various School functions outside of the normal workday.All staff, including senior leadership, are expected to perform duties related to the daily operation of the school as assigned. These may include drop-off or pick-up, recess, lunch, etc.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.ExperienceEducation RequirementsMaster's in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required; CPA highly desired.6 to 8 years of related experience in financial management, budget preparation, and investment management preferred, including 5 years of leadership and supervisory experience as a director of finance, controller, or business manager.Private independent school experience is highly desired.Demonstrated effectiveness working with boards of directors or trustees, facultystaff, and external constituents.Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, especially those that focus on independent schools and non-profit organizations.Experience working with external auditors, implementing internal controls, and managing compliance-related issues.High ethical standards.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong background in Microsoft products, including Excel, and Blackbaud as well as the Google Suite of office products.Demonstrated ability to organize people and develop processes.The Head of School may accept such other experience that she determines is equivalent to the experience listed above.To apply, please submit your cover letter, resume, and three references to .
