Reports To: Chief MetallurgistPrime Responsibilities and Major Factors in Evaluating Performance:Plan and execute engineering projects with regard to budget and timelines. These projects could include process developmentimprovement and prototype casting programs.Be a mentor to assist in training and assess the less experienced Engineers and technicians.Supports and may lead laboratory NADCAPcustomer audit preparation, audit execution, audit responses, vestigates and initiates solutions for unique or highly technical manufacturing problems. Performs technical surveillance of a complex nature in areas of new casting technologies.Responsible for technical support and sustaining engineering in various process areas. Establishes operating equipment specifications, improves manufacturing techniques, identifies and develops new process equipment for use in production. Interfaces with design personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible. Assignments are complex and require a moderate to high degree of independent action and decision-making.Reviews and evaluates metallurgical engineering changes andor other specification requirements and performs technical liaison function with production planning and engineering personnel.Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products andor procedures.May lead and direct specific and focused project team efforts to produce new products andor improve products or processes.Must be capable of delivering on commitments in a timely and efficient manner.Assignments typically will include process design and development, materials testing and inspection, preparation of specifications, process study, report preparation, and other activities requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the specific area of assignments.Additional Responsibilities:Help develop and train personnel to improve technical skillsWorks and communicates effectively with a wide variety of functional disciplines and levels of management.Observe the Hitchiner code of conduct, safety, and quality principles.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science and engineering and 5 - 10 years or equivalent knowledge experience.Familiar with a variety of concepts within the field of metallurgy and metal casting.Experience with production metal casting of ferrous alloys and nickel based super alloys.Must possess good communication and organizational puter literacy is a must, including competency in general MS Office applications, technical computer modeling and statistical tools.
