Preconstruction Manager

National Grid Renewables is part of the competitive, unregulated Ventures division of National Grid and has a portfolio of solar, wind, and energy storage projects located throughout the United States in various stages of development, construction, and operation.SUMMARY OF THE POSITIONThe Pre-Construction Manager will be responsible for managing pre-construction services for projects starting in the early development phase through the start of construction. The Pre-Construction Manager will ensure that all pre-construction projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformity with the National Grid Renewables' established policies and objectives while incorporating all functions related to safety, testing, repair, and maintenance of all equipment used within the owned assets.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOINGManaging engineering projects end-to-endOversee review of the preliminary engineering designs for renewable municate regularly with all personnel to ensure satisfaction of internalexternal customer requirements.Participate in or lead business unit improvement initiatives.Manage internal and external engineering resources in the early development of renewable power plant designsCoordinate engineering with in-house energy production modelingComplete estimate project costs, including quantity take-offs and create database for cost tracking and support of ROM pricing activities Develop proposal documents and provide support to internal teams for customer RFP (request for proposal) responses and EPC RFP activitiesFacilitate and maintain effective working relationships with contractors and engineering during all phases of the bidding, analysis, and estimating processesSupport construction phase project teams through pre-construction activitiesSupport construction teams in resolving design and or constructability challenges during constructionUnderstand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standardsContribute to development and maintenance of design standards and criteria for project infrastructure.Oversee quality aspects of engineering and construction, including ensuring compliance with design standards and accuracy of final documentation and test data.Manage and provide oversight of external professionals who provide technical expertise and project support through design, construction, and operations.Provide technical support to plant operations as may be required for project infrastructure, facilities, and systems.Understanding of EPC contracts and negotiation process through awardOther duties as assignedWHAT YOU BRING TO THIS ROLEBachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture.Minimum 5 years in engineering andor construction.Minimum 3 years' experience in renewables.Excellent knowledge of construction concepts and practices.Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.Proficiency in using programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Project, Visio, AutoCAD, and other database management systems.Advanced knowledge of PVSyst, Helioscope and other power industry modeling toolsAdvanced knowledge of solar project developmentAbility to concentrate on details as well as overall project design basisExperience with in-depth conceptual estimating skills, including ability to understand, price define and explain estimate content and approachProven ability to organize and manage several projects at various stages of developmentExcellent knowledge of construction project management.Pay Range for the posted level: $110,000.00 - 170,000.00 We offer a comprehensive benefit package, including Medical, Dental, 401(k) and disability benefits.
