Commercial Construction Estimator

Job descriptionCommercial Construction EstimatorEstimator is a critical position within Winmar Construction as Estimators are responsible for ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project. Estimators must aggressively follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received and qualified. Estimators also work with the Principals and Project Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business. Top candidates will be strong communicators, pro-active, and perform well under pressure.Duties:Read and review all bid and RFP documentation in order to gain a deep understanding of the project requirementsHave a detailed and comprehensive knowledge of construction and construction methodsRead and interpret blueprints, drawings and specificationsSelect, measure and track important metricsVisit sites, and other venues necessary to do the estimatePerform complex analysis of collected data and metricsConduct bid review and coordinate any in-house self-preform vs subcontractingEnsure solid subvendor coveragePreform detailed takeoffs using computer spreadsheets and databases as well as estimating, take-off, and scheduling softwarePrepare relevant and reliable forecastsHave strong planning and organizational skillsCreate and present reports to upper managementAnalyze and evaluate subvendor quotesoffersBuild and maintain long-term relationships with the key vendors, Subcontractors, and clientsRequirements:3 -5 years previous working experience as construction estimatorKnowledge of estimating and project managementFamiliarity with BlueBeam, Planswift, Procore a plusTechnical writing, preparing work plans a plusProject scheduling and bid scheduling a plusGood time-management skillsAbility to multi-taskStrong interpersonal and communication skillsCritical-thinker and problem-solverBA in engineering, construction science or similar relevant field a plusBenefits:401(k) matchingHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offTuition reimbursementExperience level:3-5 yearsSchedule:Monday to FridayWeekend availabilityAbility to commuterelocate:Reston, VA Office: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work Education:High school (Required)Experience:Commercial construction: 3 years (Required)LicenseCertification:Driver's License (Required)Work Location: In person Reston, VA Office
