AVIRE - Principal Electronics Engineer Radio Frequency - DASERCESLocation: Within commuting distance of Marlboro, New JerseyPurpose & BackgroundAvire is seeking a highly committed, hands-on RF Engineering Principal to join our small, high impact R&D team. You will be leading the development of emergency communication products that keep millions of people around the world safe, every single day. Leading a small, multi-disciplinary team of engineers, you will be working within a highly collaborative international environment with colleagues across our Maidenhead, Barcelona (Spain) and Sussex (Wisconsin, US) sites.Please note that this is a hands-on role, and you will be expected to take a lead role in performing engineering design and development work.Avire is at the forefront of development of emergency communications systems and other safety-of-life products for the building services industry, with a particular focus on high-rise and other highly regulated buildings. Your work will be critical to ensuring that building occupants and first responders remain safe in the event of an emergency, such as a building fire.We recognise that everyone's engineering story is a little different, and so we welcome applications from candidates who may have followed a non-traditional career path, or taken a career break, for any reason.What will you be doing?Leading the design of RF products throughout the lifecycle, from requirements specification through to architectural definition, high and low-level design, verification, qualification, and launch.Design of individual RF circuit card assemblies and modules.Tailoring aspects of the RF signal chain to meet the requirements of individual customers.Working collaboratively with the product management and sales teams to define an achievable but aspirational plan for engineering work needed to deliver new or upgraded products and co-operation with the product managers, transparently reporting the status of work within a product line and supporting the management of internal and external expectations.Ensuring that engineering risk is pro-actively managed and that risks are suitably mitigated.Coaching, mentoring, and developing the engineering team and fostering a culture of collaboration and curiosity within the team, in particular enhancing the engineering team's efforts to understand the customers' pain points and supporting them to engage with the wider industry.Supporting the creation of a strong pipeline of ideas which solve real customer problems and pain points, providing insight into market opportunities through customer insights, market research, competitor research, etc.What type of person are you?Results-driven - you set high standards for yourself and others and hold yourself and others to account in delivering on commitments.Analytical - you will be comfortable managing and analysing large sets of data to identify trends and make recommendations on repricing, replacement, and retirement of products within your portfolio, as well as identifying market trends and uncovering the underpinning reasons.Customer-centric - you put the customer at the centre of product development, and consistently seek to understand their needs, pain points and behaviours, shaping product solutions that address real problems and delight customers.Strategic - you draw insight from market understanding, customer intelligence and competitive analysis and integrate this to define clear value propositions and product strategies.Strong communicator - You can distil complex messages into clear, insightful messages that help to clarify the board's thinking when defining strategy.Agility and adaptability - as the market evolves, you can adapt quickly and adjust product strategies and roadmaps, staying ahead of competitors and capitalizing on emerging opportunities.Qualifications & ExperienceEssential:10+ years of experience in the design and development of complex electronic products, including at least 5 years at a senior level developing RF products.Experience of leading a small team.High levels of expertise in RF engineering, in particular experience with UHF, VHF, including optimization of the design across size, weight, power, thermal and performance dimensions.Familiarity with common RF chain components, e.g. amplifiers, duplexers, diplexers, multiplexers, attenuators, filters, ADCs, DACs etc.Working knowledge of the full lifecycle of a product from requirements specification through to launch.The following criteria are desirable, but are not essential:Knowledge of digital signal processing techniques using FPGAs and familiarity with the IntelAltera Cyclone platform.Familiarity with the National Fire Protection Associate andor International Building CodeWho is AVIRE?AVIRE combines 4 market-leading brands (Microkey, Janus, Memco and Rath) delivering emergency communications products that keep millions of people around the world safe, every single day.
