Akkodis is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (ITAR) for a Contract-to-Hire job with a client in Middlefield, CT.This position requires at 3 years of experience in Manufacturing preferably with knowledge of Mechanical Materials and Optical Design.*** No Corp-to-Corp; No C2C; No Referrals from C2C ***Rate Range: $43.00hour to $48.00hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.Duration: 12 months (with excellent chance of conversion to DHSalaried position)Location: Middlefield, CTThe Manufacturing Engineer position requires a working knowledge of mechanical and optical assembly and tests. Mechanical, Electrical and Optical design is not a job requirement but a PLUS. Understanding component & assembly prints is required. The manufacturing engineer will be responsible for developing manufacturing assembly processes, alignment processes & test processes for company while working collaboratively with the Engineering team.Essential Functions1. Drive process optimizations to decrease assembly cycle times2. Develop & sustain manufacturing processes using manufacturing equipment, custom fixturing and manual methods3. Write detailed assembly & test procedures & train production technicians4. Analyze production & field failures and provide Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)5. Analyze component failures and recommend corrective actions6. Develop screening tests for components and assembys7. Help improve production rates, efficiencies, yields and costs8. Provide efficient response to troubleshoot day-to-day process & equipment issues9. Specify andor develop new equipment and tooling requirements10. Support Process FMEARequired Competencies1. Intermediate knowledge of Mechanical, Materials.Optical Design experience a plus.2. Experience in Lean manufacturing practices3. Experience in assembly process standardization4. Working knowledge of Best-in-class Assembly practices5. Working knowledge of Component & Assembly Test Methodologies6. Ability to conduct Root Cause & Corrective Action for failed components and assemblys7. Ability to read blueprints8. Ability to use mechanical solid modelling software SOLIDWORKS to review drawings & assemblys9. Ability to design mechanical fixtures and tools to support production assembly and tests10. Ability to write detailed assembly and test procedures using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)11. Excellent Verbal & Written Skills12.
