This role is critical in ensuring compliance with water regulations, overseeing water and wastewater treatment systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain and improve environmental sustainability standards. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in water compliance, regulatory reporting, and water treatment processes, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.What You're Going to Do:Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:Manage National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permits compliance.Develop and oversee the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and conduct stormwater inspections.Prepare and submit regulatory reports, including:Monthly NetDMR submissions.Quarterly Segregated Zone Performance Test.Annual Stormwater Report.Annual Groundwater Report.Annual TOC Report.Hazardous Waste Generator Annual Report.Conduct Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Inspections.Ensure compliance with Water Use Registrations, Regulated Aboveground Storage Tank Registrations, and Annual DOT Registrations.Operations & Water Treatment Oversight:Oversee water treatment and wastewater systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.Work closely with hourly operations teams to ensure proper testing and system monitoring.Verify that all water quality testing is conducted correctly and meets compliance requirements.Collaborate with third-party contractors and internal teams to ensure the facility meets all environmental standards.Collaboration & Process Improvement:Interface with state auditors and regulatory agencies, ensuring clear communication and compliance.Work closely with the air compliance team to coordinate environmental compliance efforts, including universal waste and waste oil management.Support sustainability initiatives to reduce water usage and improve efficiency, aligning with corporate environmental goals.Maintain and improve data management systems for tracking environmental performance and regulatory requirements.What We Expect from You:Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in water compliance, environmental engineering, or wastewater management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.Licensing & Certifications:Must have (or be able to obtain) the following licenses in the State of Arkansas:Grade 1 Water Distribution LicenseGrade 2 Water Treatment LicenseSkills & Competencies:Strong understanding of water treatment, wastewater management, and stormwater regulations.Experience working in a unionized facility and collaborating with hourly operations teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with data management systems.Ability to analyze complex data and provide actionable insights to improve compliance and operational performance.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical personnel.Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and managing compliance requirements independently.Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and process automation projects is a plus.What We're Looking For:Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret water treatment and compliance data, providing strategic insights for improvement.Proactivity and Initiative: Ability to identify and address environmental challenges, implementing innovative solutions.Multitasking and Prioritization: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple regulatory requirements and operational tasks.Adaptability and Continuous Improvement: Willingness to embrace new technologies and processes to enhance efficiency and sustainability.Professionals who share our values Suzano - People and Culture.
