U.S. Lumber, a Specialty Building Products brand is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our VALUES based organization to lead our Minneapolis, MN distribution center this vital leadership role, you will be responsible for the overall management of one of U.S. Lumber, an SBP Brand, largest, most complex distribution centers. The Minneapolis distribution center located in Big Lake, MN provides 2-step distribution of industry leading products to a vast network of building materials dealers and retailers throughout the upper Midwest. Day to day responsibilities include order fulfillment, managing personnel, equipment, property, inventory, logistics oversight and transportation coordination. You will be instrumental in creating a highly engaged culture and developing a team which embodies outstanding teamwork, strives for excellence, and cultivates a safe work environment.As a distribution center leader, you will also be active in the process of recruiting, hiring and coaching team members, discipline, and training of employees. You will be an advocate and sponsor of operational continuous improvement initiatives which enhance branch operating procedures and improve operational efficiency and productivity. Additionally, you will be expected to regularly analyze current systems and procedures for needed improvement or obsolescence based upon their intended impact to improve safety, quality, service, or financial performance.If you are a highly motivated and influential operations leader looking to demonstrate your ability to lead at the next level, we look forward to learning more about you. Compensation:Base: $125-140K annuallyBonus Potential: up to 30-40% of Base PayTotal Compensation (Base + Bonus): up to $196,000year potential. We do not underestimate the power of our employees' ability to have a uniquely positive impact on the people around us.Responsibilities & Essential Functions:Responsible for leadership of the operation's employee team and management of the distribution facility including buildings and grounds, equipment, operations inventory, vehicles, and other assets. Manage a two-shift operation including 50-75 employees and 5 direct reports.Establish and maintain the team's commitment to day-to-day priorities and those crucial to achieving the goals of the distribution center, branch sales team and company.Maximize efficiency, productivity, and engage in expense management. Closely monitor, manage, and approve expenses (labor, equipment, fuel, repairs, supplies, and utilities). Participate in the branch warehouse standardization review process with regional operations management leaders. Assure that the operation achieves set targets as measure against standard company operational metrics.Recruit, supervise, develop, and cross-train employees on an ongoing basis. Managing work schedules, overtime and approving weekly timecards.Develop and maintain a team work oriented environment while preserving employee morale and providing a safe and efficient work environment.Monitor employee productivity, conducting documented employee reviews and constructively disciplining and documenting unsatisfactory employee performance andor inappropriate conduct.Establish standard protocol to minimize and investigate service failures, shipping errors and product damage. Manage the timely handling of customer and vendor returns.Manage the physical condition of the entire facility. Maintain a strong relationship with building owners, service providers, contractors and others who provide operational facility support as key operational partners.Administer and manage the site's compliance with all required safety programs and ensure employee training is scheduled, conducted, and documented for all employees in accordance with corporate safety expectations and those outlined by vestigate and document all accidents or incidents. Develop corrective actions to address risk of hazards or that of re-occurrence as identified.Seek support of and interact with regional Human Resource partners on the status of injured employees, restricted duty and all other matters supported by HR.Understand and comply with DOT and Federal or state OSHA standards as they relate to the operation or team members.Specialty Building Products is the leading distributor of specialty building products in North America.
