Position Summary: UmbraGroup is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to serve as technical lead on strategic electromechanical actuator projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and interpersonal skills and will bring a passion for new product innovation. This position is located in our Saginaw, Michigan facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Lead the development, analysis, testing and implementation of breakthrough linear and rotary actuation technologiesLead technical communication with customers, suppliers, and internal multidisciplinary engineering teams including mechanical, electrical, controls and software engineersUnderstand andor create system level requirements and flow down to sub-system levelUse system level thinking to optimize overall product performance and project objectives Design, conduct, and analyze laboratory testing of new productsDiagnose and correct anomalies and deficiencies in system behaviorUtilize curiosity, creativity, and technical skills in the invention of new products, features, and functions to fuel company growthCollaborate with our sister companies to share and implement best practicesAdvance UmbraGroup's use of analytical tools and testing methodsMentor and train colleaguesRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering; Master's degree is a plusMinimum 5 years systems engineering experienceMinimum 3 years electro-mechanical experienceGeneral knowledge of electrical, mechanical, controls, and software engineeringStrong oral and written communication skills with ability to tailor to technical and non-technical audiencesMust enjoy and be skilled in both analytic and hands-on problem solvingEnergetic and self-motivated, with good time management skillsHigh degree of organization and accuracy in work detailsTeam player willing to mentor and train less experienced colleaguesAbility to travel up to 15%Due to ITAR regulations, must be a U.S. Person Preferred:Previous Aerospace andor Defense Experience Familiarity with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards in a design and manufacturing environmentMIL, SIL, and HIL test experience MatlabSimulink experienceCAN, IEEE 802.3 Ethernet, or other Aerospace and Defense vehicle communication protocolBasic knowledge of C, C++ programming language preferred
