Learn more about our Transformation Story here: Who we are What you will do As a Mining EngineerEnvironmental Permit Technician you will contribute and lead all phases of undergroundsurface mine design, planning, permitting or other support functions within appropriate time and costPrepare and submit Environmental Permits to state and federal agenciesReview, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projectsLead projects and contribute mine planning expertise on largecomplex site planningconstruction and expansion or modifications for undergroundsurface coal mine locations.Contribute to site strategic planning, scheduling, budgeting efforts using software such as Carlson and AutoCADConduct short- and long-range strategic mine planning to include cost determination, pit optimization, mine method selection, mine design, mine scheduling, ventilation design and planning, infrastructure design, equipment fleet requirements, drill and blast design, and economic analysisDevelop and evaluate AFE's (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requestsEvaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipmentEvaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvementPerform other duties as required What we seek 4+ years of experience in undergroundsurface mining experience. Mineenvironmental permitting in regards with statefederal regulationsAbility to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions, familiar with MSHA rules and regulationKnowledge of the principles and practices of Mine EngineeringAbility to obtain State certification for Surface and Underground.Ability to conduct a financial, economic, and cost analysisBachelor's degree in a Mine Engineering discipline or related engineering discipline and related experience in Engineering or a related field CriteriaWorking ConditionsWork is in a undergroundsurface mine preparation plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particlesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and seeOccasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the workdayPersonal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as requiredFerroglobe promotes a drugalcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State LawsWhat we offer Competitive base salary and participation in our annual incentive planHighly competitive benefits programs401k retirement savings plan with an automatic company contribution as well as matching contributionsWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer - Minority Female Veteran Disabled
