Duration: 12+ month contract (benefits eligible)Location: Albany, NY (hybrid with 3 days on-site and 2 days WFH)Pay Rate: $80hour Project OverviewProfessional Engineer, (CivilTransportation) Inspection Oversight Under the direction of the Engineer in charge of the Bureau of Asset Management, the incumbent will be responsible for the structural inspections of a portfolio of locks, bridges, buildings, roads, retaining walls, water control structures, breakwaters, guide structures, culverts, multiuse trails, and other civil infrastructure assets, within their assigned region.Job Functions & ResponsibilitiesIncumbents perform the following engineering and engineering related duties:Ensure Canal staff and consultant inspections are completed in compliance with the Canal Corporation's Structure Inspection Manual.Collaborate with the Director of Asset Management to update and improve the Canal Structure Inspection Manual.Oversee the Flag (StructuralSafety) inventory in their allocated region.Review and approves reports documenting inspections.Coordinate scheduling and prioritization of structural inspections within a region.Maintain knowledge of current Federal, State, and industry standards related to the inspection of civil infrastructure.Prepare reports, plans, and details to support various inspection plete field work as necessary to support canals inspection program.Partner with other functional areas to drive Inspection Improvement Initiatives and recommends improvements to Inspection policies and procedures.Promote continuous improvement related to ensuring the safety of Canal's civil infrastructure.Participates in Canals Drone Program in various roles.Perform a variety of additional tasks as assigned.SkillsKnowledge of various codes, standards, current laws, regulations, construction methods, and industry-wide policies and practices.Effective verbal and written communication skills to prepare, review, and comment on technical reports, documents, and procedures.Coordinate the work of consultants and other technical experts.Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, quantify, interpret, and utilize information for presentations and recommendations that support business strategy.Collaborative and team-oriented, with ability to build relationships with vendors and all stakeholders across all levels and business units.Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects within varying competing deadlines.Education & CertificationsOne year of Professional Engineering experience with transportation projects related to highwaysroadways, bridges, airports, waterways or traffic management and safety dividuals with complimentary mechanicalelectrical related experience are encouraged to apply
