GM Performance Power Units LLC - Concord, NCERS Systems Engineer - OnsitePosition Overview:GM PPU is seeking an experienced ERS Systems Engineer to join our innovative team in Concord, NC. In this mission-critical role, you'll push the boundaries of hybrid powertrain optimization to ensure our cars achieve peak performance in the world's most intense racing environment "” Formula 1. As part of our relentless pursuit of excellence, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, leveraging cutting-edge technology to extract every ounce of performance from our power units. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing race-winning strategies that optimize energy recovery and deployment, giving our cars a competitive edge in the pinnacle of motorsport. Key Responsibilities: System Architecture: Design and optimize ERS components, including the MGU-K, MGU-H, and Energy Store. Performance Optimization: Develop and refine control strategies for energy recovery and deployment. System Integration: Collaborate with powertrain and vehicle teams to integrate ERS with other vehicle systems. Data Analysis: Analyze ERS performance data and implement improvements. Homologation and Compliance: Ensure compliance with FIA regulations regarding energy recovery and deployment. Development: Participate in track testing and race weekend operations to support ERS performance. Maximize Performance: Work closely with drivers and race engineers to optimize ERS strategies for different circuits and race conditions.Qualifications: Education: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in motorsport, preferably in Formula 1, Formula-E, or other hybrid or EV-based high-performance racing series. Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of electric motor design, power electronics, battery technologies, and control systems. Leadership: Proven track record of leading engineering teams in a high-pressure, results-driven environment. Analytical Skills: Strong capability in data analysis, simulation, and performance modeling of complex electromechanical systems. Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of FIA technical regulations pertaining to power units and energy recovery systems.
