Position SummarySealed Air is looking for an Applications Engineer to support our packaging machinery operation in Ayer, Massachusetts. This position will play a vital role in providing factory technical support for Sealed Air packaging equipment. The Application Engineering team is an integral part of Innovation and Development Engineering. Responsibilities include reviewing new designs concepts, performing beta test installations, managing machine integration, leading equipment training classes, developing custom code for barcode scanning, and design of integrated communications for automated equipment. This position requires direct customer and distributor contact. The optimal candidate for this role will have previous integration experience supporting and troubleshooting industrial equipment, demonstrated troubleshooting skills, problem-solving aptitude, and excellent interpersonal skills. Job DescriptionProvide automated equipment support to internal and external customers. Validate development programming related to supporting custom automated options. Provide controls application support for Sealed Air packaging equipment via phone, remote access, or field visits; Conduct root-cause analysis to provide technical documentation that enables data-driven business decisions.Provide electrical troubleshooting for all aspects of industrial machines, integrated accessories, and communications. Communicate with and program PLC, HMI, electrical drives, and other programable machine hardware. Create and conduct technical training; assist in the development of training materials, PM schedules, and equipment manuals. Provide equipment demonstrations.Develop and lead factory acceptance tests to ensure requirements are met and manage installation start-ups.Support Engineering equipment design and new technologies testing during development.Active participation in "˜Change the Game' efforts to improve the quality of products we offer our customers.Partner with Electrical Engineering to develop and write customer scanner code. Support remote access installation and troubleshooting. Use remote tools to diagnose and install custom code. Candidate to become subject matter expert in various automated machine models.Position requires approximately 20% travel.Skills and ExperienceBachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.3+ years of experience working with industrial equipment.Ability to design and set up prototype lab testing, then manage data-driven reporting. Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics. Understanding of various mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components. Comfortable supportinglearning emerging technologies. (Printers, Scanners, Remote Access, Integrations)Methodical approach to diagnostics.Ability to work independently, as well as, in team environments.Skilled in Microsoft Office products.Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate technical ideas and concepts.Good decision-making, time management, interpersonal, computer, and organizational skills.Professional attitude; self-motivated and disciplined to produce quality work.Ability to lead projects. Allen Bradley PLC, Siemens, and Programming experience not required but helpful in position.
