If you answered yes to both, this may be your opportunity to have a significant impact at a cutting-edge, rapidly growing semiconductor company with industry-leading technology that will drive electronic systems innovation across a diverse range of industries.Role Summary and PurposeAs an Electrical Test Engineer, you will play a key role in the New Technology Introduction (NTI) team, contributing to the development of our innovative ohmic MEMS switch design and associated fabrication process technologies. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Process Technologies, you will collaborate with various NTI functions and cross-functional teams, including Operations and this role, you will be responsible for successfully designing, building and validating electrical device test systems as well as the use of these systems to push the device performance boundaries to support the development of novel power MEMS devices.Essential ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for the device and material characterization, including electrical, mechanical, and reliability testing of ohmic MEMS switches with a focus on power applications. The ideal candidate will design and build test system components to support the development of test systems for novel power MEMS devices. You will collect and postprocess data from experiments and present them to the team to support timely and informed engineering decisions for new technology introductions, as well as assist the Quality and Operations teams when needed.As part of the New Technology Introduction team, you will work in an innovative environment to deliver test solutions, data, and analysis that guide new designs and device improvements.You will:Design, build and debug test systems using both manual and semi-automated bench test equipment.Be responsible for performing a variety of electrical and mechanical device measurements and communicating the results to the broader team.Implement automated data acquisition and analysis scripts across multiple test platforms.Work across organizations to develop and drive best-in-class electrical test and data communication processes.Perform sound electrical failure mode analysis.Design and execute DOEs, working with the process team to assess the effect of split experimentsMaintain critical bench and production test infrastructure.Be able to work in compliance with safety requirements for all phases of tool installation & operation.Ensure and maintain quality standards, engineering requirements and product specifications for Menlo Micro's process ply with all company quality and safety policies and procedures.Qualifications and RequirementsBS or MS in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering; Materials Science, Physics, or a related field1-3 years of professional work experience with hands-on electronic device testing (can include internships and co-ops)Demonstrated ability in one or multiple programming languages (Python, C, and Lua preferred)Experience with circuit design, breadboarding, soldering, and reworkFamiliarity with benchtop test hardware (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, SMUs, etc.)Experience with automation of test hardware including data collection and post-processing using automated scriptsProficient in microcontroller programming (Arduino, STM32, or similar)Attention to detail and ability to follow safety procedures and SOPsExcellent technical and trouble-shooting skillsAbility to work in a multi-disciplinary team environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsGood organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities to meet goals in a fast-paced environmentLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is requiredAble to work full-time out of an office & lab located in Albany, NYDesired Characteristics5+ years of professional work experience with electrical characterization hardware preferably in high power applicationsBackground in semiconductor or electronic device test and electrical characterization (specialty in MEMS preferred)Experience with basic electrostatic MEMS device operationsUnderstanding of MEMS design, operation, and theoryIndustrial experience in MEMS device testAbility to define meaningful experiments and analyze dataExperience using sound DOE practices for device electrical characterizationDemonstrated ability to identify device failure modes and design, develop and implement device test infrastructure to characterize and automate reliability measurementsExperience with PCB design, layout, and fabricationPrior history with demonstrated critical problem solving and innovation methodologiesUnderstanding of MEMS device design and fabrication processingDemonstrated ability to investigate, find root cause, and correct device test and test systems related problemsExperimental excellence and effective teamwork in process problem solving
