This role offers the unique opportunity to be involved in the full life cycle of new product development, from concept through production. As part of a small, collaborative team, you'll work in our state-of-the-art R&D facility in Phoenix, AZ.Key Responsibilities: As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:Participating in the design process from initial concept to final production for new products.Utilizing SolidWorks 3D CAD software to design components and assemblies.Sourcing and specifying mechanical parts to meet design specifications.Conducting failure analysis and troubleshooting mechanical components and assemblies.Collaborating with external suppliers to coordinate design and manufacturing activities.Building, assembling, and testing prototypes to validate designs.Writing detailed design specifications and test reports.Creating product testing and validation procedures.Working closely with other engineering disciplines to integrate mechanical designs into overall product requirements.Ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., UL, IEC).Supporting manufacturing activities.Traveling occasionally to visit suppliers and customers.Desired Competencies: The ideal candidate will possess:Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Excellent organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.A hands-on approach and willingness to work in the lab to build and test prototypes.Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.Required Knowledge and Experience: To be considered for this role, you should have:A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field).A minimum of 10 years of experience with a strong focus on design and product development.Proficiency in SolidWorks or a similar 3D CAD tool.Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings; experience with GD&T is a plus.Experience designing both plastic and metal -depth knowledge of manufacturing processes such as molding, casting, stamping, and machining.Good understanding of material properties and usage.Experience designing jigs, fixtures and tools for product development and manufacturing.Ability to work with shop tools to fabricate or modify prototypes.Familiarity with design for manufacturability principles.Experience supporting manufacturing operations, including knowledge of quality control processes.Experience with compliance standards (e.g., UL, IEC) is an advantage.Experience specifying, testing, and implementing small AC or DC motors in various applications is desired.Experience with household appliances is a plus.
