People Architects is excited to recruit a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant for one of our Nonprofit clients to manage the daily, monthly, and annual accounting functions across our client's network. This role is essential to ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with accounting principles.You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer, a dynamic finance leader with a strong track record in driving strategic growth and operational excellence. Working for her means joining a results-oriented, innovative team where financial expertise meets forward-thinking leadership!In this Senior Accountant position you will play a key role in financial decision-making and operational efficiency.Responsibilities:Prepare monthly financial statements with variance plete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.Ensure accurate classification of transactions across entities.Analyze financial data to support decision-making.Oversee tuition, summer camp, school fee, and aftercare invoicing.Reconcile accounts receivable and review for collectability.Maintain tuition and financial aid tracking systems.Assist with financial aid applications and communicate findings to leadership.Work closely with the Advancement department to classify and reconcile donor contributions.Maintain pledge receivables and allowances for uncollectible accounts.Provide financial reports for grant applications and compliance.Process and review bi-weekly payroll and related journal entries.Serve as a backup for payroll processing.Manage 401K census data, workers' compensation, and unemployment payments.Administer ACA reporting and COBRA payment reconciliations.Assist in preparing and managing the annual budget.Ensure compliance with internal controls and external audit requirements.Support cash flow analysis and fund management.Qualifications (required and preferred)Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.CPA with 3+ years of experience OR Non-CPA with 5-7 years of related accounting experience.Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
