Growing Food Manufacturer located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago is seeking a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager.This company offers competitive compensation, bonus potential, great benefits and a real opportunity to make a difference!POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for day-to-day food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation operations and implementation and adherence to our SQF (Safe Quality Food) program.POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESScheduling the FSQASanitation team weeklyHiring, training, coaching, and terminating FSQASanitation employeesRecords review, pre-shipment review, and verification of all daily FSQA documentationTracking and trending FSQASanitation labor hours dailyweeklyOversee weekly WIP waste and assist with carryover in the RTE departmentOversee weekly environmental testing and daily ATP testingProvide monthly plant training on Food Safety topics and SQF required contentWork with overnight sanitation to ensure plant cleanliness and pre-operational effectivenessWeekly meetings required with overnight sanitationWeekly organoleptic evaluation of KIDS and Finger Food meals, along with smoothiesEnsure a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to qualitySupervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrityEnsure FSMA, HACCP, GMP, and SQF requirements (including the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF system) are met as neededResponsible for all plant product quality by ensuring various product tests and tests related to ingredients and packaging are being accomplished to specificationResolve major quality problems at production facilities, warehouses, and other areas as requiredEvaluate and take corrective action when necessary with regard to product date coding and trade age management at all levels of product movementEducate and instruct plant personnel in recommended quality assurance testing, equipment sanitation, and general sanitation and housekeeping practices. Confirm these procedures are being maintainedConsult with plant management and personnel on better operational procedures to improve overall efficiency and product yieldsDiscuss plant evaluation with plant management, make appropriate recommendations, and set a timetable for improvement and correctionsProvide technical and statistical expertise to teamsProvide, and oversee, inspection activity for product throughout the production cycleSupervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrityFormulate, document, and maintain quality assurance standards and ongoing quality assurance objectivesInterpret quality assurance philosophy to key personnel within the companyOversee inspection activity for product throughout the production cycleStrive to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing, quality, and safety proceduresFollow company safety and quality policies and requirementsPerform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and requiredKNOWLEDGEEXPERIENCESKILLSBachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Food Science preferredFive+ years of experience in food safety and quality assurance in food manufacturingSQF practitioner, HACCP, and PCQI certifiedExperience in USDA inspected facilitySupervisorymanagement experienceQuality orientation and high attention to detailExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsProblem analysis and problem resolution skills
