The Senior Payroll Specialist role will include supporting the payroll department in a variety of functions, including processing payroll (weekly and bi-weekly), reconciliation of timecards, paycheck distribution, and various payroll reporting including certified payroll. The ideal candidate must be able to effectively communicate involving phone, written and face to face contact with internal customers (employees), other departments, management and others as needed.Duties include preparation and processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll, monitoring wage-hour compliance, creating payroll reports as needed, and general administrative payroll tasks as needed.Other Key Responsibilities and Tasks:Prepare and process both weekly and bi-weekly multi-state payroll through ADP.Review and audit the payroll in detail to ensure accuracy.Process manual checks as needed based on state wage and hour regulationsGain familiarity and understanding of union contracts as they relate to payroll functionsHave solid knowledge of federal and state pay policies and best practices.Review and take the appropriate action for employee changes (new hires, terminations, rate changes, internal controls, etc.)Research and resolve payroll related issues with excellent customer serviceKeep informed of changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll processesPrioritize workload efficiently and be able to meet payroll deadlinesPrepare and submit weekly certified payroll reportingAssist in special projects as assigned by managementRequired Skills & Certifications:3-5 years' experience in payroll processing and payroll tax.High degree of accuracy and attention to detailExperience with ADP preferred.Experience with certified payroll preferredProficient with Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive informationProven ability to work independently and in a timely mannerHighly organized, attentive, has a sense of urgency, flexible and able to deal with frequent interruptions and changing prioritiesProven ability to quickly learn new systems and processes
