Group DescriptionThe Consumer & Retail Group operates within BBVA's Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division, covering global clients in the U.S. and abroad. The team provides a full suite of advisory, capital markets, and global transaction banking solutions to Consumer & Retail companies with an international footprint. Our product offerings include M&A advisory, debt advisory, corporate lending, structured finance, bonds, FXswaps, trade finance, working capital solutions, and cash management, among others.Position: Associate - Consumer & Retail GroupThe Consumer & Retail Group is seeking an Associate to join our New York office and support our coverage efforts. This position plays a key role in a client-facing team, working with colleagues across multiple geographies and supporting senior bankers on various sub-sectors and transactions.Key responsibilities:As an Associate in the Consumer & Retail Group, you will take on significant responsibilities in pitching and executing advisory, capital markets, and transaction banking deals for both public and private clients. Your role will include:Preparing pitch materials and participating in presentations to existing and prospective clientsConducting financial analysis, including valuation, M&A modeling, and broader financial modeling.Performing company and industry research using sources such as company filings, equity and credit research reports, and industry databases, summarizing findings for client-facing materialsManaging internal approval processes, including credit requests and approval process for new transactions, amendments, annual reviews, among others.Coordinating closely with bankers in the United States, Europe and Latin America, and Product groups to manage all aspects of transactions, including proposal preparation and liaising with risk and Portfolio Management, Legal, Operations and Finance teams.Analyzing riskreturn metrics on all stand-alone transactions and client relationshipsTracking key client and prospect activity and maintaining revenue budgets.We are a flat and growing team, providing direct and frequent interaction with clients and BBVA's senior management.Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of investment banking experienceStrong foundation in financial modelling and valuation analysis in a professional settingPrior credit training, structured credit and or M&A experience preferredDemonstrated record of academic excellenceStrong analytical and quantitative skillsTeam-oriented, self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset"Can-do can-learn" attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving and adaptability in a fast-paced environmentDetail oriented with a complete focus on quality resultsdeliverablesStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to work independently while thriving in a team environmentAbility to work under pressure and manage multiple projects under tight deadlinesAdvanced proficiency Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)Experience with CapitalIQ (or Factset), Bloomberg, and Euromonitor is preferredSIE, Series 7, and Series 63 licenses required (or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire)All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $120,000 to $130,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
