We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join our Finance team and contribute to our continued success.Founded in 1945, Budrovich is a diversified contracting company that is known for superior service through a commitment to safety, excellence and teamwork while earning the mutual respect of our customers, employees and the community.Position DescriptionThe Payroll Manager will manage the payroll processes for all Budrovich Companies, which have both union and non-union employees. This position ensures compliance with labor laws, collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), tax regulations, and internal company policies. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage complex payroll operations while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. The Payroll Manager will supervise a Payroll Administrator, manage payroll operations, and handle key reporting responsibilities and payroll projects. This position will report to the Controller. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Payroll Processing:· Ensure that payroll is accurately processed weekly for all union and non-union employees in a timely manner.· Ensure compliance with applicable laws, CBAs, and company policies and procedures.· Verify that payrolls are accurately calculated based on approved timecards, and that deductions, overtime and special pay rates are calculated correctly.· Interpret and apply CBA requirements, including wage scales, benefits, and deductions.· Ensure accurate and timely union dues, pension, and benefits remittances.· Prepare and pay federal, state, and local payroll taxes, ensuring compliance with regulations.· Process employee garnishments and ensure compliance with legal requirements.· Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information to ensure accuracy in a timely and professional pliance and Reporting:· Prepare and distribute Form W-2s annually.· Manage monthly and quarterly reporting and payment of payroll taxes.· Generate detailed payroll reports for management, audits, and financial planning.· Manage payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data accurately and retaining required payroll records.· Assist in union and insurance payroll audits by providing documentation and resolving inquiries.· Oversee certified payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with prevailing wage requirements.Collaboration and Leadership:· Work closely with Human Resources, Accounting, and Operations teams to align payroll processes with overall company goals.· Partner with Business Units to ensure the payroll aspects of all projects are fully understood and addressed prior to project commencement.· Assist the Business Units and other departments with payroll-related tasks and projects, as needed.· Manage the (Vista) payroll system configuration and updates, partnering with IT, Vista, and third-party consultants, as necessary.· Manage the payroll function in an efficient and effective manner, ensuring appropriate internal controls are in place and always looking for process improvements. Identify and lead process improvement projects.· Perform various other duties, as assigned to support the payroll, operational, and administrative functions.· Supervise, train, and provide guidance to the Payroll Administrator, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.Qualifications:· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience. Master's degreeMBA andor CPA, a plus.· Payroll Manager experience. · Union experience and strong understanding of CBAs and certified payroll and prevailing wage requirements.· Experience with multi-state payroll processing.· Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in payroll software and systems (Vista, a plus).· Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.· Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.· Strong communication skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.Candidates with contracting experience are preferred.
