Summary of Responsibilities:The Global Subsidiary Banking group forms part of the Global Transactional Banking (GTB) division and is an integral part of BBVA's global Corporate & Investment Banking(CIB) network, enabling us to provide our top-tier multi-national clients with banking coverage for their US subsidiaries. The Global Subsidiary Banking strategy is to provide consistent, in-depth and dedicated coverage across the BBVA network with the goal to deepen our relationship with our customers.At BBVA, our Global Subsidiary Bankers (GSB Banker) are individuals who possess a comprehensive understanding of the complex financial issues facing our global clients, and have the ability to deliver innovative local financing and transaction banking solutions, while leveraging the global relationship with the BBVA group. The GSB Banker will partner with our global relationship managers and our product specialists to provide a full array of local corporate banking solutions, from loans, cash management, foreign exchange, trade finance, to capital markets and derivatives products. They also partner with our industry bankers to deliver industry specific knowledge and expertise.The GSB Banker will manage a portfolio of existing US subsidiary clients, as well as a list of prospects, with the primary responsibility of developing a comprehensive transaction banking relationship that includes Cash Management, Global Trade Finance & Working Capital, and Liquidity solutions. In addition, the GSB Banker will collaborate with Global Markets and Investment Banking and Finance product partners to identify and refer clients with long-term capital and risk management needs.The GSB Banker, as a senior member of the Global Subsidiaries Banking Group, is expected to mentor and assist other team members with special projects and complex transactions, by providing technical support and expertise on the structuring, negotiation and execution of a wide range of transactions.List MajorEssential Job Duties: Liaise with Global relationship managers to identify opportunities with existing clients and potential prospect namesProactively identify opportunities with clients by engaging with product specialists and developing a client planMaintain an active calling effort to further develop existing clients and convert prospects to long-term relationshipsEnsure pipeline is maintained and accurately reflects the status of opportunities with clientsPartner with the Global Risk Management teams to ensure client and prospect strategies are aligned with the risk strategy of the BankEvaluate actual and potential returns to ensure that they are in-line with local and global return hurdlesPartner with the Legal Services teams to ensure that all transactions are documented in accordance with Risk and Bank's standardsManage and mitigate operational risk in their day-to-day activities as part of the "first line of defense" within the Bank's internal control structureSupport other junior bankers on more complex structurestransactions Level of Complexity and Risk Involved: The role of the GSB Banker has many complexities due to the cross-border nature of the clients, which will require them to fully understand the Bank's BSAAML and RegW policies and procedures that affect the on-boarding and day-to-day activities of the addition, the GSB Banker is expected to manage and mitigate operational risks resulting from their day-to-day activities, as part of the "first line of defense" within the Internal Control model of the Bank. This will require in-depth knowledge of the clients, as well as, the products and services that are offered to the clients and the potential risk associated with them.Skills, Knowledge, AbilitiesCompetencies: Minimum 10 years experience in Corporate & Investment Banking with a specific focus on cross-border bankingBachelor's Degree in Finance, accounting or related fields. MBA preferredFluent in English and SpanishStrong credit skills with experience in more complex cross-border structured transactionsKnowledge of Global Transaction Banking products and services, specifically, Global Trade Finance & Working Capital, Cash Management, and Liquidity solutionsKnowledge of Investment Banking Finance (Syndicated Finance, Project Finance) and Global Markets solutions (DCM, FX, IRS) - PreferredExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and build relationships with internal and external stakeholdersExcellent time management, planning and organizational skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical skills with proven ability to deliver complex solutions to clientsAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $220,000 to $260,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.*Employment eligibility to work with BBVA in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions
