Transmission Operator I Oakbrook Terrance, IL Contract to Hire Pay Rate: $28 - $35hr (Depending on Experience) As a Transmission Operator I, you will be responsible for the continuous monitoring and operation of the transmission system to ensure the highest levels of safety and reliability. You will be given in-depth training and mentorship to learn the proper processes and procedures and work under the guidance of Sr. Transmission System Operators and Shift Managers. You will be responsible for the successful completion of NERC and PJM training and certification program.We encourage you to apply if you want to learn more about this position and grow your skills in a digital grid environment.Job Duties Complete assigned coursework and obtain NERC and PJM system operator certifications.Support routing work, switching, logging, analysis of data, etc.Maintain operating log, interruption reports and associated records to accurately record system status and sequence of events.Participate in field visits with operating company field personnel to learn field equipmentprocesses.Monitor Energy Management System displays to manage system voltage and equipment loading, ensuring reliable operation.Assess system integrity using advanced applications and alarms, and implement necessary actions during emergencies or abnormal conditions.Oversee and perform switching and blocking procedures, coordinating actions to create a secure workspace for field personnel.QualificationBachelors or Associate level degree in ElectricalMechanical Engineering or a similar fieldHigh School diploma AND 3-6 years of job experience, preferably in the electrical field.Fundamental of electric transmission and distribution systems is a plus.Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of operating procedures.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Demonstrated analytical skills and judgment.Demonstrated ability to respond to emergencies and manage stressful situations.Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, in a 24x7 environmentEight Eleven Group provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, citizenship, disability, genetic information, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, amnesty or status as a covered veteran in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
