Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Job Specialty: General Respiratory Therapy Job Duration: 6 Months Shift: Evening: 1 - 12-hour shift (10:30 AM - 11:00 PM) and 3 - 8-hour shifts (2:30 PM - 11:00 PM), alternating weekends Guaranteed Hours: 36.00 per week Experience: Preferred - One (1) year of acute or critical care experience License: Current license for Respiratory Therapy in the state of practice Certifications: - Certified Respiratory Therapist - BLS - American Heart Association - ACLS required for critical care Must-Have: Skills in critical care, therapy, and NICU preferred Job Description: - Provide professional respiratory care through patient assessment, planning, intervention, education, and evaluation. - Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol. - Obtain arterial gases and oversee the operation of equipment for optimal patient care. - Initiate respiratory protocol and interventions based on assessments as per department criteria. - Administer medications safely and evaluate their effects according to protocols. - Communicate patient progress with staff, physicians, and other departments effectively. - Recognize and address the educational needs of patients and families regarding health promotion and wellness. - Teach self-care techniques and modalities to patients and families. - Ensure accurate documentation according to departmental standards, including productivity information. - Monitor supplies and equipment, and notify the appropriate person when necessary. - Utilize time effectively to achieve productivity standards, and participate in quality and patient safety initiatives. - Identify potential areas for improvement to enhance patient satisfaction and safety. - Participate in departmental meetings by contributing ideas or feedback. - Promote the mission, vision, and values of the health system and adhere to its service behavior standards. - May be required to float to other departments based on business needs and be placed on-call during a scheduled shift.
