Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with software safety standards and requirements across the full development lifecycle, from hazard identification through development to systemsoftware qualification testing. This role requires a deep understanding of both civil and defense safety processes, as well as proven analytical and problem-solving skills.Responsibilities:Apply software safety standards and requirements (e.g., DO-178C, MIL-STD-822, AMCOM385-17, Joint Software Safety Engineering Handbook) throughout the development lifecycle.Conduct hazard identification, development, and systemsoftware qualification testing.Perform SAE ARP4761 analyses, including Aircraft and System Functional Hazard Assessments (AFHASFHAs), Aircraft and System Safety Assessments (PASA, PSSA, ASA, SSA), Particular Risk Analysis (PRA), Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA), and Common Mode Analysis (CMA).Execute MIL-STD-882 analyses, such as Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Operational & Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Health Hazard Analysis (HHA), SystemSubsystem Hazard Analysis (SHASSHA), Hazardous Materials, Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analyses (FMECA), and Safety Assessment Report (SAR).Utilize model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and model-based safety analysis (MBSA) techniques.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex, highly integrated functional systems problems.Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers, and brief leaderscustomers on safety-related matters.Demonstrate technical and functional understanding of aircraft and aircraft systems, with an operational understanding of related support systems.Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years of experience in aircraft or system developmentsustainment programs utilizing structured safety program processes or plans.Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or math). Related degrees with relevant experience, such as military rotorcraftpowered life aviator or mechanic qualification, will be considered.Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience.Direct experience with SAE ARP4761 and MIL-STD-882 analyses.Familiarity with civil safety processes defined in SAE ARP-4761 and ARP-4754, andor defense safety processes defined in MIL-STD-882.Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers.Eligibility to obtain Secret Security Clearance.Skills You Bring to This Role:Experience with software safety standards and requirements across the full development lifecycle.Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.Familiarity with civil and defense safety processes.Direct experience with SAE ARP4761 and MIL-STD-882 analyses.Experience or training in MBSE and MBSA.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.Technical and functional understanding of aircraft and aircraft systems.Operational understanding of aircraft, aircraft systems, and related support systems
