Right now, the client does not have a department manager over their CivilStructural discipline. This individual will be taking over the CivilStructural team, inheriting two Engineers and two Designers and will eventually be expected to also grow their team. Each team supports anywhere from 5-10 onshore projects at any given time, with most of them being brownfield (some greenfield as well). Although this individual will be managing a team, they will also be very hands on and considered a working manager. When an RFP comes in for a potential project, as the Manager, they will review the RFP and work with projects managers to develop the man hour estimates for the CivilStructural discipline. They will work closely with the PM to develop clarification and deliverables on proposals. If they win the job, they are responsible for staffing it, assigning Engineers & Designers that will work on it. They will oversee the projects from a quality standpoint and resource standpoint, making sure everyone is getting their work done. There may also be projects where they will be leading and doing the work. As the project progresses, they need to provide updates to project managers on earned value, cost, any issues, concerns, needs, etc. If change orders come through, they will have to provide change orders for their discipline, as well as schedule updates.
