Position: Executive DirectorThe Baton Rouge Bar Association is seeking a highly motivated, experienced leader to assume the role of Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for directing, leading, and managing the affairs of the Bar Association and implementing its policies for the overall benefit of the organization and its membership. The Executive Director will ensure that the daily activities of the Association are carried out in a manner consistent with its strategic direction.Overview of Key Responsibilities:Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Association and Foundation, including staff organization, delegation of responsibilities, and supervision of staff. Manage finances, marketing, programming, technology, and human resources. Collaborate with the Board of Directors in setting policy, articulating the vision and mission of the Association, as well as setting short term and long-term strategic goals.Implement and oversee programs supporting the professional well-being of our members.Represent the Bar Association at local, state and national events. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLeadershipUnderstanding the dynamics affecting the legal profession and how to position the Association to remain valuable to members, the court system and community.Develop strategy in collaboration with the Board of Directors and communicate vision and strategy to staff and volunteers.Possess extensive decision-making skills and the ability to organize and manage collective decision making processes.ManagementManage the Foundation under the supervision of its President and Board, ensuring that it supports public service, pro-bono efforts, youth education, educational programs and publications.Effectively manage the staff and volunteers so that goals and objectives are being met.Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects municationExcellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to effectively represent and articulate the Association's mission and goals to internal and external audiences.Membership Development & RetentionEnsure that the Association serves the needs and interests of its members. Oversee membership growth and identify members' needs, issues, and opportunities for developing appropriate programs.Seek new opportunities for membership expansion through the development of robust recruitment strategies, effective marketing campaigns, and beneficial partnerships and business relationships.Supervise the planning and execution of events, including fundraisers, social events, CLE programs, receptions, and committee meetings.Manage delivery of all Association programming and services including Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programming, delivery of Pro-Bono and related community services, including youth education. Determine ways to foster community involvement and engagement.Finance and AdministrationResponsible for overall fiscal management that includes operating within the approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization, and maintaining the Association in a positive financial position.Ensure the fiscal integrity of the Association, including the submission of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements which accurately reflect the financial condition of the Association.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A four-year baccalaureate degree required; juris doctor or MBA preferred. Five years' experience in administration, finance, and management within a professional services organization, a law firm or private entity preferred.Exceptional communicator who can communicate with varied audiences from judges to lawyers to employees. Experience with and understanding of the state and federal court system, the legal profession, and the legal needs of the public.This position is a full time, in person opportunity that offers a full benefits package that includes a competitive salary, health, and retirement benefits, as well as paid time off.
