For over 20 years LER has been working with customers across North America to meet their engineering resource challenges.We have a position for an experienced embedded controls engineer who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and executing calibration tuning, verification and validation tests, and documenting and analyzing the results on embedded software controls.What you will be doing:Develop a detailed understanding of how fuel systems embedded software controls a high-pressure common rail fuel system. Enable the use of new fuel system hardware by tailoring and tuning existing calibrations. Design and calibrate new fuel system control algorithms. Troubleshoot issues on various gas or diesel engines. Write Tuning Guides and Concept of Operation documents that adhere to established best practices. Submit defect reports in Integrity to document software issues. Run FMET(s) (Failure Modes Effects Tests) on bench and vehicles. Perform testing on benches, fuel system rigs, test cells and vehicles to assure the fuel systems software is functioning properly andor to duplicate problems found by customers. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in the following areas:Electronics OR controls backgroundMatlab SIMULINK and advanced controls theory are required . Mechanical Engineering degree HIGHLY preferred as well as 1 or more years of hands-on experience. Fuel system hardware including injectors and high pressure pumpExcel data analysisMatlab scripting and Simulink simulationClassic PID and modern model-based (Kalman filter) control theoryDigital signal processingObject-oriented design and real-time embedded software6 Sigma design processEngineering toolsGood communicator - written and verbalAn effective problem solver who is comfortable using analytical tools. Hobbies or college engineering teams (mini-baja, solar car, etc) are a plus.
