Foundry QualityTechnical DirectorThe Foundry QualityTechnical Director oversees all aspects of metallurgy, process control, and quality assurance within the foundry. This role is critical in ensuring that all production processes deliver high-quality castings that meet or exceed customer specifications while adhering to safety and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, develop and maintain quality assurance systems, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and product quality.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage metallurgical practices to achieve optimal metal quality and composition.Oversee the selection and specification of alloys, ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards.Troubleshoot metallurgical issues during production and recommend corrective actions.Conduct metallurgical testing and analysis to monitor casting properties and performance.Drive innovation in metallurgical techniques and materials for improved product offerings.Implement and oversee robust process control systems to maintain consistency in casting quality.Develop & Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) in compliance with ISO, NIAC, PED, and MILTech Pub.Lead internal audits and support external audits by customers or regulatory bodies.Analyze quality data and customer feedback to identify trends and implement corrective and preventive actions.Provide technical training to staff to improve skills and knowledge in metallurgy and quality practices.Act as the primary technical contact for customers regarding quality and metallurgical inquiries.Prepare and present technical reports, quality summaries, and process improvement initiatives to board of directors.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).Minimum of 10 years of experience in foundry operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.Extensive knowledge of foundry processes, casting techniques, and quality assurance practices.Strong understanding of metallurgical principles, alloy compositions, and casting defects.Proven expertise in developing and managing quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
