Job TitleProject Manager - Overhead Transmission EngineeringLocations: 4 Locations (Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; Phoenix, AZ; Boston, MA)Job Summary:Our Client is seeking a Project Manager (PM) with extensive experience in overhead transmission line design to lead and manage complex projects in the energy and utility sectors. As a PM, you will oversee multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality engineering solutions. This role combines leadership and technical expertise, requiring a candidate with hands-on design skills, direct client communication experience, and a passion for delivering results.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership: Manage all phases of overhead transmission projects (69kV to 500kV), including scope development, budget management, resource allocation, scheduling, and client communication.Technical Design Oversight: Provide hands-on technical guidance and oversight for project deliverables, including PLS-CADD models, design calculations, and engineering drawings.Team Management: Supervise and mentor engineering staff (Staff and Senior Transmission Engineers), fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.Client Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring alignment on project objectives, deliverables, and timelines.Quality Assurance: Ensure project deliverables meet or exceed Burns & McDonnell's standards and client expectations.Problem Solving: Address technical and logistical challenges proactively, developing innovative solutions to meet project goals.Billing and Financials: Maintain project profitability by managing budgets, controlling costs, and accurately tracking project performance.Business Development: Support proposal development and identify opportunities for expanding client relationships or securing new projects.QualificationsRequired:Education:Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.Candidates with a Master's degree must also meet the ABET accreditation requirement, but a Master's can be accepted in lieu of one year of experience.Experience:Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in overhead transmission line design with demonstrated technical and project management expertise.Experience working in a client-facing role, with a proven ability to manage client relationships.Skills:High proficiency in PLS-CADD, with hands-on usage within the last 3-5 years.Strong understanding of standard engineering practices and regulatory requirements for transmission projects.Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams and meet deadlines effectively.Experience mentoring staff and leading technical teams in a collaborative environment.Preferred:Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain licensure within one year.Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar.Background in consulting or utility sectors with a strong understanding of project lifecycle management.Additional Information:Candidates must demonstrate the ability to balance project management duties with technical design and delivery. This is a hands-on role where technical contributions are expected.The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and be passionate about delivering innovative solutions.Travel may be required for project kickoffs, site visits, and client meetings.
