Discover a trio of inviting dining destinations in one historic location, helmed by James Beard Award-winners Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne, along with a refined split-level rooftop pool-deck with uninterrupted views of city lights; plus 12,000 square feet of event spaces, including two suites that integrate the building's sporting-club past by repurposing the vintage basketball court and indoor pool into inspired, unexpected design elements.We are seeking an Events Sous Chef to join our culinary team. This key role is a direct link between the Executive Sous Chef and hisher assigned production areas and outlets. The Events Sous Chef's primary responsibilities are to ensure all BEO specifications are effectively communicated to the culinary team and then executed flawlessly. The Events Sous Chef is primarily responsible for the food production and set-up aspects as it pertains to the event. She will follow company standards and food procedures on setting up for the event, and will be required to start their day gathering all necessary food items, food quantities and specifications as listed in the event BEO.Your responsibilities will include:Lead by example and adhere to all Downtown L.A. Proper kitchen standards, attendance standards and grooming standardsAssist in event kitchen setup areas by ensuring they are clean and organized Follow proper timeline per the event BEOStudy your BEO and food sheets to know your event in and outUnderstand your individually-assigned job duties, which are delegated by the Head Event ChefRequirement to work warehouse kitchen shifts as well as event shiftsAssist in production of all aspects of assigned event food production such as; hors d' oeuvres, food stations, buffet, plated meals, drink stations and desserts Ability to multitask to ensure proper flow of food through the eventAbility to obtain any government required licenses or certification for example food handler's card and Serv Safe Managers Food Safety CertificationDisplay good customer relation skills when having to interact with guests, clients and venue personnel May be required take photo of all food stations, buffets and food plates as well as sending the photos to the Sales Event Specialist, who built and sold the event, via text messageAdhering to all event standard processes as well as HEC standard policies and procedures Ensure all guest food requirements per the BEO are set and ready 15 minutes before event start time Assist in the unloading and reloading of company vehicles at eventsProperly wrap, label, date and store food itemsAbility to take and pass all training provided and required by HEC to complete daily operational duties Performs other duties as assignedEnsure all federal and state labor laws are followed and adhered toEnsure all federal and state Wage & Hour laws are followed and adhered to (meal and rest breaks, OT, etc.)Qualifications:Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in a hotel or upscale restaurant environmentCulinary degree or equivalent experience in culinary artsProven track record of successfully leading in a fast-paced culinary environment and effectively prioritizing demandsExcellent critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to resolve issues promptly and efficientlyFlexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by business needsExperience in special events and catering operations Company Overview Proper Hospitality is made up of a diverse group of passionate individuals who share a common love for hotels and the art of hospitality.
