Job Overview:Gotion is seeking a highly motivated Cell Development Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, OH. In this role, you will focus on developing advanced lithium-ion battery cell chemistry tailored for Electric Vehicle (EV) and Energy Storage System (ESS) applications. You will play a key role in designing, optimizing, and validating innovative cell chemistries that meet customer and market demands for high energy density, safety, long cycle life, and cost-effectiveness.Responsibilities: • Develop and optimize advanced lithium-ion cell chemistries for EV and ESS applications, including cathodes, anodes, electrolytes, and separators. • Conduct lab-scale material screening and formulate electrode designs to achieve performance targets for energy density, cycle life, safety, and cost. • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to translate laboratory-scale designs into prototype and pilot-scale cells. • Perform electrochemical and materials testing to evaluate cell performance and identify degradation mechanisms. • Analyze test data and propose solutions for improving cell design and performance. • Work closely with US OEM customers to understand their requirements and incorporate them into cell development activities. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in manufacturing and quality to ensure scalability and production feasibility of developed chemistries. • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in battery materials and technologies.Qualifications: • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or a related field. • Minimum 3 years of experience in lithium-ion battery cell development, with a focus on materials research and cell chemistry. • Strong knowledge of battery materials, electrochemistry, and degradation mechanisms. • Hands-on experience with material characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, DSC, and TGA. • Proficiency in electrochemical testing methods like EIS, CV, and GCD. • Demonstrated ability to design, analyze, and optimize lithium-ion cell performance. • Experience with scale-up processes, from lab to pilot to production, is a strong plus. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Why Join Gotion?At Gotion, we are shaping the future of energy storage by developing cutting-edge lithium-ion battery solutions for EV and ESS applications.
