Data Center Engineer

Job SummaryTechnical subject matter expert for Business data centers.Technical SME to work with Divisions and RegionsVoice to the Data Center ownersHelp the data center owners determine how they architect builds Engineer should understand how to design a data center solution, ie. What equipment to put where, how to design the connectivity transport from client network to the data center. Needs to interface with data center owners, sales reps, divisionregion engineering. Expected to know how different designs affect space and power to knowledgably work towards an agreement.Responsibilities:Act as technical subject matter expert for Business data center specific products and servicesDeep knowledge of fiber, Ethernet transport, Cloud Connectivity designs, and technologyWork closely with market development and business development to understand data center opportunities and plan build funnelsTechnical liaison with data center owners to understand space and power needsPartner with HQ, divisions, and regions (sales, engineering, market development, National Engineering and TPX)Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to determine best transport designs, vendors, and architecture at each data center (in and out of footprint)Follow deployments to ensure process is followed accurately and timelyStay abreast of competitive landscape and emerging technologies to best position company in the marketplaceQualifications:8+ years work experience in relative work experienceFamiliarity with ethernet connectivity solutions, secure networking solutions, cloud solutions, andor data center services Track record of managing cross functional teams in a matrixed organizationExcellent communications skills
