Director of Permitting

Overview:Vallum Associates is working with a developer of energy storage systems and management software seeking to add a Permitting Director to their team.Qualifications:Degree educated, preferably with strong academic record in environmental sciences, natural sciences, engineering, planning or related discipline from an accredited programMinimum of 5-10 years of Permitting experience in NYC in project management, environmental permitting, or real estate development, ideally related to renewable or conventional energy development.Must be able to work autonomously and be able to "implement a tactical plan based on the big picture"NY zoning resolution experience FDNY and DOB experienceResponsibilities:Leading all permitting activities for Energy StorageBESS in NYCSecure all necessary permits required to construct and operate BESS projects, considering varying jurisdictions, application requirements, fees, anticipated approval times, required studies and likelihood of securing permitsPerform environmentalpermitting due diligence for development and acquisition, including preparing lists of required permits, timelinesDevelop and implement permitting strategies, schedules, and agencypublic outreach efforts to minimize project cost and risk and ensure compliance with environmental and land use regulationsCoordinate with internal departments and external consultants to produce plans and reports, ensuring content quality and complianceIdentify, assess, and communicate site-specific permitting and jurisdictional risks to the development team, and develop risk mitigation strategiesExperience managing a team.
