JOB TITLE: Nurse Manager - ASC REPORTS TO: Medical Director and Executive Director GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Medical Director, Executive Director and according to the established nursing standards and Center policies and procedures, functions as a leader and team player of clinical services (assists all). Clinical staff/services as necessary to optimize operations of the Center. Assumes 24-hour responsibility for the overall operation of Center's clinical department. This position is responsible for overseeing general facility clinical operations, providing clinical support, and managing the operational performance of an Ambulatory Surgery Center, in a manner that promotes high quality of patient care. REQUIREMENTS: RN License in good standing in the State of New York Bachelors degree or equivalent 3+ years of Nursing experience Outpatient endoscopic services preferred ACLS and BLS ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1) Daily clinical staffing. 2) Efficient flow of patients through the Center. 3) Evaluate clinical personnel along with the Executive Director. 4) Demonstrate knowledge of center's policies and procedures. 5) Implement ASC's Infection Control policies. 6) Clinical representative on the QI Committee, Infection Control, Risk Management, and Safety Committees. 7) Responsible for assuring compliance to clinical policies and procedures. 8) Monitor Competencies for all clinical staff. 9) Improves and/or supports others in improving the health and well being of all patients through excellence in patient care, teaching and research. 10) Assists staff in the implementation of policies and procedures related to the daily operations of the Center. 11) Provides administrative support to staff to ensure efficient work flow, adequate staffing levels, resolution of difficult problems, monitoring of quality assurance measures, and enforcement of departmental and Center's policies. 12) Assures department compliance with standards and guidelines established by accrediting and regulatory agencies. 13) Provides direction and support to staff to implement total quality management measures and customer service strategies in all department activities. 14) Functions as a "hands-on" team member in all nursing areas on an as-needed basis. Participates in meeting nursing care needs of patients by relieving other professional nurses when necessary. 15) Develops effective working relationships with all members of the nursing staff, procedure room staff, anesthesia staff, and other Center departments. 16) Establishes, in collaboration with the Executive Director, quality and service standards for outpatient endoscopy services. Develops systems to ensure that standards are maintained, and establishes operating plans to address areas that do not meet standards. 17) Attends annual facility and departmental fire/safety and infection control training andmaintains current knowledge of safety procedures within the Center and department. 18) Works on ASC's Quality reports including ASCQR and GIQuIC monthly reporting. 19) Performs and supervises quarterly nursing chart reviews. 20) Conducts monthly (or as needed) staff meetings. 21) Handles patient complaints as well as incident reporting in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures. 22) Works with the Executive Director regarding OSHA, HIPAA, and other compliance programs of the facility. 23) Other duties as assigned.
