Certification Details BLS - Basic Life Support ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support State License 1 Verification Job Details Pre-Screening Question: IMPORTANT- Please note, this unit requires nurses with Med Surg experience, no previous Behavior Health/Psych experience is required, however, nurses must be okay with this population to be submitted. This unit is a secured medical unit. In order to be admitted to this unit, patients have a primary medical diagnosis but typically have a history of mental illness as well. They will be expected to care for patients who are in alcohol withdrawal, have a history of IV drug use, dementia, aggressive behaviors, and anything that a med/surg unit would care for. IU Health is now offering charge pay, which is a $3.00 bill rate bump per hour MUST BE FLEXIBLE WITH WEEKEND REQUIREMENTS, WEEKEND REQUIREMENT WILL BE BASED ON UNIT NEEDS. TRAVELERS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 50% OF THE WEEKENDS IN THEIR CONTRACT. IU Health University and Methodist are teaching facilities and require all travel nurses to agree to the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow them while on assignment. Please only submit candidates that are okay with these requirements. Shift Requirements: 4x12 or 3x12 *** Call-Ins: If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, the traveler is expected to 1) make up the day during the pay period, if a 0.9 FTE. OR 2) if a 0.9 FTE and unable to make up during the pay period, then the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract 3) If a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract *** Charge coverage: Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources. Floating Requirements: Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist Hospitals REFUSAL TO FLOAT MAY END IN TERMINATION OF CONTRACT Effective 11/30/24, IU Health will not allow IN RN's to work at their facilities (SEE EXCEPTIONS BELOW). Periop/OR RN's, Allied and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from this rule. These IN travelers are allowed to work past the 11/30 deadline. Periop includes ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS. Job Requirements Valid Driver's License or Passport accepted. Must be clear copy. Online Verification of License to include expiration date and any disciplinary actions (within 30 days before start date). Must be through primary source. IN.gov.LICENSING: Task the Program Manager for approvals on license issues. Minimum of 2 references required from recent employment. Must be verified within 2 years of the start date. The TITLE of the reference contact must include charge, manager, supervisor, or above. A reference from a team lead is acceptable for Allied travelers. 'Supervised Directly' is not sufficient if they do not hold one of the titles described above. Additional Details HIPAA Acknowledgement required. Medication Test/Pharmacology exam required. Not required for Techs or RRTS. Complete facility specific forms as a priority.
