Job Title: Senior Pipe Stress EngineerLocation: HoustonType of Role: Direct HireSchedule: Hybrid, with 3 days a week in the office and 2 days working from homePOSITION OVERVIEW:Global Edge are proud to be working with a world leader in the development and supply of Single-Point Mooring (SPM) systems and is engaged in research involving new and improved tanker mooring systems and associated components. Projects range from preliminary design studies to major engineering, fabrication, and procurement projects that include installation and commission. Projects supplied include marine terminals for product import export, turrets, tower yoke and spread moorings for tanker based floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO FSO) systems installed in water depths ranging from 30 feet to 5,000 ft.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Directly report to the Piping Department Manager.• Provides support to the Lead Piping Engineer on assigned projects.• Conducts pipe stress analysis of piping systems as per ASME and Offshore Codes using Caesar II software program.• Applies knowledge to develop innovative solutions to technically challenging projects.• Responsible for the design of all piping support components.• Coordinate the design of exclusive pipe supports as needed.• Reviews the Client's technical requirements for Piping Stress Engineering and establish the stress Design BasisPhilosophy for various load cases, specifications, standards, and guidelines for stress engineering execution.• Preparation of stress critical line list as per the critical line selection criteria.• Performs static analysis using CAESAR II for the load cases such as dead weight, sustained loads, Thermal expansioncontraction, wave acceleration, hogsag deflections, occasional and environmental loads, blast load, slug. Load cases for operation, hydrotest, transportation and module lift will be considered for the stress analysis work.• Perform Fatigue Damage calculation of the piping system per ASME B31.3 Code using CEASAR II stress values considering cyclic loads such as acceleration, thermal and slugging frequency.• Knowledge of vibration analysis (FIV and AIV) using Energy Institute Guideline is preferred.• Perform dynamic analysis of piping system using CAESAR II (natural frequency check).• Perform evaluation of nozzle loads utilizing WRC 107297 capability of Caesar II program.• Perform FEA evaluation of stresses at nozzles, or for determining user-calculated SIFs, using NozzlePro, FEPipe, or other FEA software.• Can organize work, monitor, report, and achieve progress to schedule.• Provides input to project scheduling for dependencies, durations, and manpower requirements for pipe stress related activities.• Able to extract engineering data from CAD drawings as well as computer models.• Interact frequently with various engineering disciplines and departments.• Review vendor drawing submittals and conduct technical bid evaluation for pipe support components such as spring, hanger, clamps, snubber etc.• Provide technical guidance to piping designers or drafters and engineers working on the same pipe stress project.• Provide magnitude of all loads acting on guides and supports to structural group for structural member (beam, plate etc.) design.• Participate in reviews of piping ISOs, & structural drawings.• Responsible to produce high quality deliverables, which may include, specifications, design calculations, progress reports, correspondence, procedures, analyses of bid evaluations for pipe support components, Engineering Change Notices, study reports, and various 3rd party submissions.• Provides technical support on piping stress matters, from the proposal stage to the aftermarket.• Has a thorough understanding and knowledge of relevant Codes and Standards not limited to, ASME, API, ABS, DNV and other guidelines.• Basic understanding of process requirements and operations is desirable.• Able to do material take-offs and center of gravity calculations.• Willing to travel if required to participate in HAZOPs, project reviews, and fabrication site visits. Durations typically are for approximately 1-2 weeks.• Knowledge of high strength piping materials such as Carbon Steel (API 5L X65, X70 etc.) DuplexSuper Duplex Stainless Steel, Copper Nickel etc. is required.QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.• 10+ years of experience in Oil & Gas FPSO, Offshore platforms, Petrochemical, or Refinery Industries.• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Piping Stress Engineer on offshore floating structure projects. (FSOFPSOFLNGFSRUsemi-submersibles)• Expert knowledge in the use of Caesar II pipe stress analysis software.• Expert knowledge of offshore piping design and oil & gas industry codes.• Conversant with the Navisworks software.• Strong knowledge of spreadsheets, databases, and AutoCAD is a definite plus.• Familiarity with risk assessment concepts and methods.• Good time management skills.• Critical Thinking "” Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.• A self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision, make sound decisions, take independent action, analyze problems, and provide focused solutions to assigned projects.• Good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work well with people at all levels in the organization.The Global Edge Consultants, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
