Our client is looking for an Avionics Engineer with DoD experience in Atlanta, GA! They are also open to people who need to relocate, but monetary relocation assistance would not be offered. This is a 6 month contract-to-hire role.Location: Midtown Atlanta, GA Remote Capabilities: 3x a week on-site and 2 days remote**Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain a secret clearance; Cannot consider C2C or persons requiring sponsorship**Job Summary: The Avionics Engineer defines and designs military avionic systems and systems-of-systems. Specifically, the Avionics Engineer develops integrated system-level designs, and hardware and software subsystems designs. These designs are associated to avionic functions such as navigation, tactical data links, electronic warfare, defensive countermeasures, intelligence, and integrated system functions like data fusion and resource management. These design efforts include integrating the avionics systems within the aircraft, aircraft-to-aircraft, and aircraft-to-ground systems The Avionics Engineer applies knowledge specific to aircraft such as safety (e.g. FAA standards), security, robustness, and performance. Additionally, the Avionics Engineer analyzes laboratory and flight test data for functionality and performance. The Avionics Engineer also provides expertise and technical leadership to programs and sponsors to achieve overall goals through the full development life cycle (i.e., requirements development to final delivery). Tools and methodologies used by the Avionics Engineer includes Model Based System Engineering, laboratory analysis hardware, software development environments, and Agile methodologies.Key Responsibilities:Manage all technical aspects of product or system design including directing multiple lab resources for large scale product or system deployments.Manage sub-contractor resources supporting all system engineering areas (e.g., definition, requirements analysis, synthesis, systems analysis, and implementation).Conduct product or system design synthesis, translating requirements into physical architectures for systems of high complexity.Definerefine internal and external system interfaces.Support development of product strategy and execution.Develop and review technical reports, specifications, test plans, memos, and diagrams detailing product or system attributes.Lead medium-to-large project tasks andor small programs and provide technical status and plans to Project Director.Serve as a resource and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for avionics engineering tools and technologies.Significantly contribute to whitepapers and proposals.Additional Responsibilities:Integrate new capabilities and subsystems into military systems, including the design of inter-software interfaces, inter-subsystem interfaces (e.g., data, interconnects), aircraft to subsystem integration, pilot vehicle interface, and testinstrumentation systems integration.Serve as a technical expert on assigned projects and systems including keeping up to date on use models, system capabilities, system interfaces, engineering tools, and road maps for current and future updates.Serve as a technical expert for a specific engineering specialty (e.g. safety engineering, hardwaresoftware interface, digital engineering).Isolate hardware and software component anomalies.Analyze flight and laboratory data to ensure system requirements are satisfied.Ensure that all technical work is developed to meet military, safety, and security standards.Design and manage the laboratory configurations for assigned projects.Lead cross-discipline project teams.Required Minimum Qualifications:Experience developing software for complex military systems using disciplined.Software engineering experience with developing in languages such as CC++ andor Ada.Experience developing real-time software.Preferred Qualifications:Active Secret Clearance.Experience developing software for integrated electronic warfare andor sensors systems.Experience with development of secure andor safety critical systems.Experience with avionics data buses (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet, RS-422, etc.), tactical data links, military radios.Experience developing avionic systems on military aircraft.Experience with military relevant open software standards and frameworks.Experience leading small to mid-sized technical teams.
