YWCA Retirement Fund, Inc. operates as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization and provides a cash balance defined benefit pension plan. The sole purpose of YWCA Retirement Fund is to ensure income in retirement for employees of participating YWCA Associations.We are seeking a Member Services Associate to join our team in New York City. As a Member Services Associate, you will play a crucial role in enrolling eligible new and returning participants in our pension plan, requesting and processing termination documents from the Plan's sponsors and updating information and data regarding the status of participants.The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:Process enrollments of new, rehired or transferred employees at the 195± associations that are sponsors of the Retirement Fund in a timely and accurate mannerWork with associations to resolve participation status discrepanciesUpdate participant and beneficiary file information and changes supplied from multiple sources, in line with Fund operating procedures and requirements, providing follow-up as neededUpdate the employment status changes of participants in line with Fund operating procedures and requirements, providing follow-up as neededProcess the establishment or changes of additional voluntary contributions from participantsHandle communications (correspondence, telephone calls, emails, faxes, etc.) from participants and Associations regarding enrollment, contribution, refund and retirement options. In addition:Initiate workflow to process participant forms on the Fund's recordkeeping system to initiate workflow.Control the returned mail and update participant accounts accordingly.Convert paper documents to electronic.Assist on various annual projects such as tracking down missing participants, obtaining missing beneficiary information, compliance Review and annual audit.This position requires:A Bachelor's degree in a business related field and at least 2 years' experience in a similar role (preferably in a retirement plan or employee benefits department)Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skillsExceptional organization skillsProficient with basic software programs, including Microsoft Office ApplicationsThe ideal candidate should be a team player and have a strong desire to learn and grow within the position. The individual will communicate with the Contributions and Accounting departments as well as individual Fund participants. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDSBasic office environment demands including moderate keyboarding, use of telephone, copiers, scanners and calculator (manual or voice-activated). Ability to communicate verbally in a clear fashion as this position requires frequent communication with participants. TRAVEL AND WORK SCHEDULEPeriodic fluctuations in workloadproject deadlines may necessitate working beyond normal business hours and on the weekends.
